Today was an absolute freak-out day for me. Reached office like a lazy goose at 11:30am. Picked up a cup of black tea and plunged into chatting with my colleagues about the places to visit in India. I had promised one of my colleagues that I would get the photographs I had taken during my Kerala trip. So, the day had come to keep up this promise….and so, I was showing him the photos and explaining him about the places. Well, it was a very intense discussion! That’s because both of us are absolute travel-maniacs. Few of my friends had attempted the XLRI entrance exam yesterday. So, was sitting and discussing the paper with them! It was 1:15pm by then. Then, we went out to a book stall near Brigade road. It has an amazing collection of rare as well as common books – both new ones and second-hand ones. I bought four books – three by Anita Desai and ‘It Was Five Past Midnight In Bhopal’. Well, hopefully I get the time to read all these books! And yups, I want to tell more about this book stall. The owner of it is an electrical engineer from a good college in Bangalore. He completed his studies two years back and then due to his interests in books, he started this stall. He takes books donated by people. He has an absolute marvelous collection of varied books….right from travel to fiction and from economics to sex! And he gives them off at low prices too. And most importantly, none of the books are pirated ones…so, better than those road-side book sellers! Then, came back and went to the cafeteria to have lunch. And then took off to watch ‘Once upon a time in Mexico’. Well, the movie was an absolute masala one (as expected!) Well, there wasn’t ‘paisa-wasool’ at all…because I had gone to see Salma Hayek …and alas! she comes in very few scenes!! :-( And then went to another book stall set up on the same lines as the previous ones…though this one is more older….or rather much-much older….about 30 years old! Finally, came back to office….had a small discussion on ‘direct-selling’ and what Amway is doing for selling pharma products. And then came back home. Phew! What a hectic day, isn’t?
