Biocon's zooming up shares fell today. Seems like biotech has not yet caught up in India. But, it surely is going to be the 'in-thing' in the coming years. Has a lot of scope: especially for the pharma companies....

11:39 am

Its 10:40am on a lousy Sunday morning. Got up just about 10 minutes back and now sitting in front of my first gf and giving exercise to my fingers!! ;) Returned not-quite-late yesterday night (at 11:45pm to be exact!). Now, parents are going out to attend a marriage of the daughter of some family friend. And me, as usual, not interested in these ceremonies, prefer to stay back at home. And do more productive work!! ;)
The Planet M t-shirt that I bought yesterday is lying on the table in front of me. I found it really really cool. Infact there was a pretty varied and cool collection of t-shirts at Planet M. Found this really catchy. It’s orange and has a sketch of a modern sadhu chanting “Hairy Om! Hairy Om!” What else can be more cool??!! But yeah! I found a t-shirt which perfectly suits my project leader (or rather head team leader…he himself is not sure of his post!). It reads “My Indecision is Final!”
I got a sexy collection of episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S ! Me gonna sit and watch them the whole day!! Whole of Sunday dedicated to this!! Incidentally, my previous post has a FRIENDS quiz!
And yesterday was a dash to Haze along with two friends after a lot of confusion whether to go to Styx or others. And yeah! It played my favorite videos – Rammstein!! And Bacardi provided the right mix! And more Bacardi! And then hit Corner House for strawberries and cream! Wow! Perfect!
Got back home and chatted with 'The Bugging N' (she is gonna kill me for revealing her real personality!!) till 1:45am till my head could not take anything more. Flat on bed!

The weather today is great! Yeah. I agree that its been raining here since the past two days and rain can be disgusting. Especially when you have to travel to work in the mornings. But, today its just been drizzling. Sitting on the fourth floor and staring out of glass walls of my office building, I feel great! The lake next nearby is shining bluish-green!
We were standing on the terrace and enjoying the weather for about half an hour after lunch. I can see the radar system installed nearby slowly rotating and to the left, the flags on Leela Palace are fluttering in the breeze.
Wow! amazing feeling. Don't feeling like working today! :D :D

Watched Sweet November. Amazingly sweet! Staring: Keanu Reeves and my favorite Charlize Theron.
Nelson (Reeves) is an advertising executive who is totally engrossed in his job and is living a lifeless life…speeding through every minute of it…no love…no hobbies…no distractions…no adventures…Its then when he meets Sara (Charlize) who teaches him how to live. Changes the life of this troubled man. Unfortunately she is ill – has a migraine and cannot marry him even though he loves her.
Reeves and Charlize spark a warm chemistry…they have done a brilliant job in The Devil’s Advocate too.

Also watched Dail M for Murder. A very old movie. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, it’s an amazingly engrossing movie. Has a lot of dialogues and every word said has a lot of things hidden in it. Well, I won’t tell the story….it’s a suspense thriller…a detective story!

Also watched A Walk in the Clouds for the second time. Another romantic one. Paul (Reeves) accepts to play the role of Victoria’s (Gijon) husband to face her domineering father when he comes to know that she is pregnant. A very caring family and an awfully harsh and bossing father…Paul finds his way into the family and ultimately he and Victoria fall in love after his wife leaves him for another person.
The vineyard rituals and ceremonies give a charm to the movie.

12:08 pm - A thought....

I am now sitting in my room and staring out of the window behind my comp. Staring at those tall coconut trees that are swaying in the wind. It’s hopelessly bright and hot outside. The leaves are shining bright yellow. Well, see how nature has made these coconut trees so adaptive. They are so tall and yet can sustain the winds so easily without getting uprooted. It’s in the design of the leaves. Nature is truly a great architect. Those splits in between the leaves allow winds to pass through so easily…. providing no resistance at all…inspite of the height.

Adaptation is an ongoing process and as environment changes, living beings keep on evolving to get adapted to the changes. Those that can evolve, perish. Natural Selection. But, there is certainly a limitation to the pace of this change as well as this adaptation. A natural pace. Any pace faster than this and especially brought out by man’s artificial activities can certainly harm nature and eventually man’s own survival. What is prompting me to write all this is a list of temperatures that got published in today’s Times. It is a list of hottest temperatures recorded in Bangalore since the last ten years. What we see is a horrifying increasing curve. Simple interpolation can show that in around five years time the temperature in Bangalore can touch that of Ahmedabad and the temperature there can touch that of the Sahara! What a horrifying site! No wonder the air conditioner sales have zoomed up! But, its all this effect of global warming…cause being exponentially increasing pollution brought put by man’s anti-natural activities...right from soaring automobile population to smoky industrialization to …
Seems like man would start developing nictitating membrane to counter the pollution!

“Nature can act on every internal organ, on every shade of constitutional difference, on the whole machinery of life.” – Darwin.

Well, should we climb down the civilization ladder? Well, that doesn’t at all seem practical or sensible. Even if it did, it’s impossible to do so!! It’s all about following nature-friendly practices. Atleast the basic and easy ones…starting from decreasing the use of plastics (non-bio-degradable and are hence harmful) to keeping the vehicles in good pollution-free condition to planting more trees. Well, this reminds me of one thing: Many trees along Major Cariappa road (parallel to MG road), Bangalore, have been cut down. What a pity!
Unfortunately the concern is very limited. Even among the educated masses. That’s because the educated don’t have the time to think about these things and the uneducated don’t know about these things!
Seems like it’s in the very characteristic of man – this selfishness – lack of concern for members of his own species as well as others. For instance, take birds feeding on ground. One individual may notice a predator and sound an alarm. In doing so, the bird also calls the predator’s attention to itself. Similarly with the bees. The worker bees (they are sterile) unselfishly devote themselves in caring for the queens, which alone reproduce and subsequently for the young ones. And one this side, we have Homo Sapiens who not only care for members of other species, they fight among themselves too.

1:59 am - Long time na!!??

Well….getting back to my blog after a long time. Had been quite busy all this while due to product release. Anywayz, trying to gather rest, sleep and enjoyment for some days at least.
My very good friend and colleague left the organization on Friday to join some other place. Well, I do miss him. Had some very good moments with him…especially the trip to Hessargatta and Sammy’s Dreamland. Anywayz, people come and go……

Met up with him and two other colleagues today. It was a sudden plan triggered by a couple of phone calls. Met up at Lalita’s Paratha Point (LPP…..Not Linear Programming Principles!!) Had some stuffed ones. And then managed to get tickets for Main Hoon Na!
Well…..I felt that the movie is a total shit! No sense in any scene. And those typical gyan scenes…..and some rona-dhona and some sentipana…..
I wonder how people enjoy all these things…Most of the movies that have been coming from the past few years depict glamour and riches and dancing and flashy clothes and raounak. Its all fine…but, they seem so artificial…..India has lot many people belonging to the middle class and below poverty line. All these things that are shown never happen anywhere in India. And unfortunately the people get carried away by these glamorous stuff and riches and flashy things. The common man dreams about all these and when he is shown these, he truly gets carried away….though he can’t achieve them…..such a pity!

Was reading Linda Goodman’s book on zodiac signs. Though I don’t totally believe in these stuffs, but I felt that certain fundamental things are true. Well, I don’t know whether the stars and planets affect our behaviours, but the environment in which we live in certainly depicts and affects our personalities to a large extent. The thing that specially attracted my attention was the paragraph on compatibility among zodiacs. Certain things were, I felt, right in a pretty large way. For instance, I have very good friends with whom I am compatible and very close and very comfortable. And I am a Piscean. And my best friends are mostly Taureans or Pisceans….and to any extent scorpio. And that’s precisely what she says too. Anywayz, I don’t make friends based on zodiacs!

Anyways, had a great time today! :D :D

Officially today was supposed to be a holiday due to elections....But my managers are so shameless that they called us to work. Anyways, I came in late (by 11:30am) after casting vote.

Some specifications suddenly changed today and so me off to some rework on the functional spec part.

2:39 am - Update of the situation...
Well, as proposed, there was indeed a meeting with the senior TL, four-five of my peers and me. I can say that the meeting was quite convincing. However, nothing can be said about whether some steps would be taken for the betterment. Many issues were directly raised and many things were directly attacked. At many places in the discussion the senior TL was cornered by our words and arguments and he did feel the heat.
I hope that atleast now something would work out.

7:42 pm - Story....
Well, this time a true story......of myself.....

#Characters:
My Ex-Team Leader 'M', Head of all TLs 'S', My ex-team leader 'P', my peer-colleague 'SB' and myself.

I have only started this game and I shall only end it. The people in my stream do a hell lot of work. We work almost 24x7 and the last day I took leave was in February beginning. And due to tremendous work pressure, people are getting frustrated...the performance is also falling.
Last month, I had exclated this matter to 'S', who did lend an ear to my words. But, no steps have been taken as of yet. 'P' knows that I am concerned about the work enviroment and she keeps cooling me down. 'SB' and myself are determined to get things working in the right way and both 'S' and 'M' know about this. But, offlate 'S' and 'M' have turned more cunning then what they were before. They are playing tactics of stabbing 'SB' and me from the back. Poor 'P' trusts 'S' and believes that 'S' is very good and concerned about the situation. 'S' has already put me in another team so that I don't bother him much. But, I, as usual, ready to fight, spoke to him yesterday that we need to have a combined meeting to access the situation. Though he has agreed for the meeting, its not yet scheduled.
So, here is a situation of pure politics being played in the organization. Since, my appraisal is anyway screwed up eventhough I have got extreme appreciation from some TLs and the PL too, I have decided that 'there is nothing to lose, and so better fight for getting things in the right place."

So, buddies wish me luck so that I can come up with some substantial change in the environment.

It is said that "Work is fine if it doesn't take too much of your time."

Well, things seem to be going in the wrong direction in my case. Too much work not only reduces the enthu/joy but also harms health. Sometimes I feel that I am doing the wrong thing in life for which I shall regret few years down the line. And the pity is that I am not able to change it. The quest for making huge money in no time is the most dirtiest and sinful thing to do. But, getting out of this chase is, unfortunately, very difficult. And that too at the cost of one's life. My colleague who was happy that he could earn 4 lakhs hard cash in 6 months, now feels that his has lost more in terms of 'life' than what he gained on the monetary front. Some one once told me a very important thing: “You should not confuse your career with your life.” So, very true...yet so difficult to implement.

Soon I shall reach the state of realization...a feeling that materialistic things donot give you the ultimate unending happiness.
