yesterday i went out with jo after my dressmaking lesson, and it was fun, sitting together with 5 bowls of tang yuan and peanut soup and other yummy desserts just for the two of us. a few hours after dinner, i went for a lovely run in the park, feet pounding pavement in the darkness, bougainvillea thorns piercing my arms as i brushed past the corners. i felt like collapsing, and collapse i did, on a lonely bench. this is addictive, i'm going back tonight and tomorrow and the day after and...

history source-based questions are nasty. today i'm pretty sure i could write you an essay on the funan empire in the mekong delta, or the kalinga war, or the two 'chandragupta's of the mauryan and gupta dynasties respectively, or how to use oracle bones to tell the future and communicate with spirits, or the drainage systems in harappa and mohenjo daro, or where palembang is and its troubled history, or the zhou dynasty's imperial examination system (kickstarted by an ancient king called han wudi, back in oh, 1000 BC i suppose). i also taught the boy i'm tutoring how to write newspaper reports (the thing above the headline is the 'eyebrow', heh i forgot that actually). and i have a full-length play to read as well as a language arts essay draft to be done this weekend. mmm, i miss essay-writing.

tomorrow i'm going for dressmaking lesson again in the afternoon (hello benji you're gorgeous!) and after that i'll be going out for dinner at my secret rail mall place. right now i want to just make a strong, heady beef stroganoff with splatterings of cognac and pavlova with chantilly cream. i want to whisk eggs, make buttercream frosting, buy more yummy vanilla pods and feed someone, while watching a good jean luc godard feature or maybe even fiddler on the roof. i want to wake up and make eggs benedict and just sit in the sunshine licking the sweet oil off sun-dried tomatoes. right now i'm eating a few slices of bread filled with creamy peanut butter (dear trans fats, don't worry i still love you) and i just realised my mum got this new flavour with little crunchy chocolate chip bits in it. i made pumpkin and sago dessert earlier on as well, and it was so rich i couldn't really have a full dinner right afterwards.

p.s. i have a mcjob, which i signed up for on impulse-- not really flipping burgers and fries but rather the customer service/waitressing bit. i love being busy, and hey, a mcjob will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. i'm also secretly a fast food junkie; give me a double cheeseburger and a warm apple pie any day and i will find space in my stomach to fit them in nicely. if i work there i will probably steal a french fry every other minute. on the other end of the spectrum i also have a job offer at woodbridge hospital all the way in hougang, which involves scuttling around passing files to the doctors and hanging around the reception. the thing is, i have to stay on for three months, i.e. eternity. the other alternative is relief work, again, at hpps. should i go?
