i took a break off work, but here's to another crazy week ahead [16 Apr 2007|12:32pm]
_monday: bbdc (9am-11am), top up cashcard for driving ($250), make new provisional driving license (i lost mine), then rush back to bbdc for driving lesson (3.30pm with mr water. yes, his name is water)
_tuesday: pass stuff to jo at king albert park (10.30am), meet jiv somewhere (?) around noon watched 'the lives of others' at the cathay with jo. awesome and my first trip to the movies in OVER A YEAR because i'm very fussy. spilled grape soda on popcorn and invented crazy grape-flavoured popcorn.
_wednesday: give literature lesson (1pm-3pm) OVERSLEPT because i was lying in bed from noon to 3pm cuddling my pillow and freezing and daydreaming, driving theory (3.45pm-7.40pm) skipped this too because i was looking at handphone reviews, eek
_thursday: dressmaking lesson (2pm-4pm), give history/english tuition (6pm-8pm) BUY NEW HANDPHONE AND GET NEW HANDPHONE NUMBER!! (i've had way too many annoying calls over the past 2.5 years), write language arts essay draft
_friday: climb hill in the morning. literature/history tuition (2.45pm-4.45pm)DAY OF REST (for now!)
_saturday: driving theory (8am-11.30am), dressmaking again (2pm-4pm), shopping in the evening
_sunday: church (11am-12.30am), swimming/FIND-A-GYM, driving lesson, in the freaking night when it's dark and i'll need to learn how to use headlights at the same time omg (7.30pm-9pm)

other things:
_read all the books i've bought but sadly neglected
_organize all the folders, photos, music and junk that i've been amassing in my laptop since december
_sign up for silly culinary course arghhh
_go back to rjc and rgs
_organize trip to sentosa before the next drastic thing happens
_go to the sengkang beach place
_decide: hpps, ttsh, or stay at home and spend time meaningfully be a bum?

i just had another driving lesson today and it was such a thrill. i love the click-sound the steering wheel makes because it makes me feel like i'm driving a huge, powerful bus. my instructor is hilarious; he makes kung-fu actions with his hands all the time, and cheers me on. he also tells me to stop being lazy because i have this odd tendency to unconsciously release my right hand from the wheel. i like waiting for the kerb to pass by and then magically executing a left turn, and also the way u-turns and accelerating feel like. today i also fed a pair of cute bukit timah monkeys which kept weaving in and out of my path, and drove past the gorgeous quarry.

i just read last week's newspaper and the life section people did a half-page commentary piece on mr. vonnegut's demise. they casually referenced the hypnotic phrase, 'so it goes', multiple times-- a phrase which still makes my spine tingle quite a bit, and which i always imagined to be as piercing and perplexing as an altar gong. i guess i don't have the right to be annoyed (i've only written an essay on two of his books-- slaughterhouse-five and cat's cradle) but still, ugh, these people don't seem to understand that death was something he'd always been looking forward to, and that a huge part of him had died all those years ago, back in dresden. what i remember most clearly right now is what he said about us being 'trapped in the amber of the moment'. i quoted the whole line in an essay and annoyed the fuck out of the teacher who drew angry red circles around every 'trafalmadorian' i wrote, and refused to mark my a clockwork orange by anthony burgess/white noise by don delilo essay on the basis of illegibility/nadsat usage.
