dressmaking class is going really well, i now have a file filled with impressive sketches and scaled down fabric versions of all sorts of skirts. i never knew there were over 30 basic types of skirts, each with its precise measurement ratios and fabric allowances and paneling details, and i'm just waiting to learn how to elasticize and hem things properly. i think in a month's time i'll have enough experience and crazy sewing machine skills to design and make a dress for myself. i just had a few bowls of delicious mee rebus, which reminds me of primary school, because i ate mee rebus or mee siam 90% of the time during recess, and washed it down with this $1.60 (ridiculously expensive considering the noodles only cost 50 cents, and we were in primary school) voodoo jelly drink which tasted disgusting, on hindsight. my mum and maid are awesome at cooking, every single day is so different and exciting meal-wise, because my siblings are the fussiest eaters around.

today it rained heavily on my way home, i let my hair down for once (i'm loving the way it's growing back with a vengeance), a construction worker shared his massive umbrella with me (or rather, i awkwardly scurried under it for cover as he extended it politely to his left), i patted a kitten on my way home with the hems of my jeans sloshing in the rain, i had a long dream where i traveled across the entire world on our local train system (i went from singapore to shanghai to israel to sweden to a dozen other places and then back to singapore in two hours, and at each stop i got off quickly and grabbed loads of candy, so i ended up with lovely candy from all over the world). another weird thing about my dream was wandering around and buying peranakan white sticky pyramid dumplings (with the sweet meaty bits) as well as warm brown dumplings filled with chestnuts, from (weirdly enough) a malay butcher armed with a meat cleaver, in a dingy isolated alley. and i was riding a bicycle.

in my dreams i wear gauzy white nightdresses which brush past my knee, my hair is more wavy and voluminous, and i talk to strangers like a mad woman.

it just hit me-- the reason i didn't apply for any ppe (politics, philosophy and economics) course is because i'm acutely math-phobic. it's really a shame, because that's exactly what i've wanted to do over the past few years (i don't know what changed along the way), and everyone else seems to think that's the course that would suit me best. i've also realised i've always wanted to either produce natural geographic-style documentaries, study human behaviour/social systems, manage a business, or do something law enforcement/forensics- related. i have no idea what's the best route to take, and it's been bothering me, because ultimately i'd like to be qualified in what i really want to do, rather than in something that is way too general and all-encompassing.

there are less than 2 days left for me to get started on/submit my s/mu application, read a thick book which is overdue, help my brother with physics (specific heat capacity/latent heat calculations and electromagnetic energy= my favourite topics ever), give more tuition, read more financial periodicals to find counter-statements, and get as much sleep as possible. i'm going to church really early later today because it's easter; hooray for hot crossed buns and chocolate rabbits!
