MAN i'm tired and i'm in a gloriously out-of-bounds-to-kiddos STAFF ROOM right now, shh!

i had to teach TWO math lessons (i didn't know any algebra when i was in primary 6 or even what a square root was, so it was a bit of a shock). and yay, my first lesson was an art lesson (primary 2! chinese new year lantern-things are usually boring but the class was really insane... they spelt my name as 'preya da sheeny' and kept scaring each other with staplers) and then i was free the rest of the day-- which is really a lot of spare time since the lessons are only half an hour each.

i don't get paid for the first few lessons (i've to commit to at least a few weeks of work i think) but it's actually really entertaining and fun being with primary school kids. there's also the rush of power you get when you've got the class list in your hands, and just by randomly picking kids to answer questions you get to see bits of their personality. there was a kid called gregory (horrible name) in one class and an imogen (pretty name) in another class and there was a cool indian girl called judy (or julie?) who asked me what colour my (non-existent) car was. and i think i wasn't supposed to but i sat with the last class in the canteen instead of at the teachers' area.

i'm just pretty shocked because i thought it would be terrible. it's true that there are some kids who are hell-bent on sucking up-- i bet the full-time teachers experience this a whole lot more, what with the task of selecting subject reps and prefects. it was also weird being treated like an adult by people only 6 years younger than i am, as well as having to stand with teachers during morning assembly (which i unfortunately have to attend).

ok first here's a glimpse of my rocky horror picture show outfit a month ago, assembled out of stuff i bought in london-- ignore the horrid pose, i was trying to get the ring, shoes and a bit of the dress together and obviously lack self-timer skills.

gorgeous dress- zara, S$70 before discount
so tacky it's lovely black rose ring (red version pictured above)- http://urbanoutfitters.co.uk , S$30
firetruck-red patent shoes- miss selfridge, S$45
grey lycra tights- primark, a bargaintastic (!) S$6

and here's a long-overdue sneak-preview photos from what was essentially a 2-month shopping trip in london (and a few days in paris). this is a teeny fraction of the high-street carrier bags i amassed. i never do this much shopping in singapore. no wait, i hate shopping in singapore and i never step into the high-street outlets here. anyway i spread some bags out onto my bedroom floor and there's still a massively huge bag (of more little bags) left:

ok now i need to seriously unpack my luggage. it's been weeks already and i've been procrastinating. i even have all my A level stuff sprawled out in a corner behind my bed and it's been taking up over 1/3 of my floor space.
