Hello.
I'm Cecilia, and I just joined this group. I've grown kind of bored with MySpace, and I was hoping for another place to make friends. I've had this Blurty journal for a few years now, and I barely decided to use it for communities too. If anyone wants to see my Myspace profile, the link is:
www.myspace.com/users/icec
If that doesn't work, just search for my e-mail: iseececi@yahoo.com

But yes, boredom.

I need school..

HOT HOT HEAT.

Hi - I just joined but it doesn't look too active, but I guess I can cross my fingers and hope someone will answer... Does anyone know of any cinnamon flavored cigarettes? I'm a big fan of the Sweet Dreams Vanilla and other flavored cigarettes, but I've never found cinnamon flavored.

Thanks,
Effie

Hello everyone *waves*

I just found this community at random and decided that it might be a good thing to chat with some people who are actually above the age of pubertys onset. Not that I have a problem with the younger folks, it's just that I can't relate anymore, I guess...anyone else starting to feel old??

Anyway, just looking for some Blurty friends, and you guys seem like an interesting bunch...

Anybody mind if I pull up a chair?

-Kat

I agree with libellule, we need to get some conversation started! Hmm, we could talk about the holidays.... if you celebrate Christmas, how much shopping do you have left? Or, if you don't celebrate Christmas, what do you observe and how do you deal with Christmas being thrown in your face constantly?

Jen :)

hello everybody.....

it was my intention to post in here earlier today, like when i was drinking my coffee, but i was delayed by morning sitcoms unfortunately.

anyhow, i'm a 22 yr old canadian female. i've had this blurty for a while but only recently have i started posting in it. i just returned from the west coast area. spent the summer out in calgary, banff and canmore loafing around the mountains and generally being a bum, and now i'm back in manitoba.
i'd like to think i was fairly intelligent, though a lot of the time i'm pretty quiet. but when something does arise that i find important i will take a stand on it. hopefully i'm in the right place for this....

You would think that with so many members that there would be more discussion in this community. Maybe we just need a good topic to get the ball rolling again. So if you have something that you would like to discuss with the community feel free to post them here, that is what this community is for. Hopefully this joint will be jumping once again.

Another member who just joined, so I guess introductions are in order.
I turned eighteen in january this year. I live in Singapore, that little red dot on the map.
Currently facing some important examinations, known as the A-levels, at the end of the year.
I suffer from insomia and other such stress-related stuff, so I'm on a truckload of medicine.
So... erm, yeah there are times whereby I'll be logged on in a drugged state.
But anyway, I'm really excited at joining this community, make more friends, the works.
Holler on my journal is gladly welcomed.

Would like to just end this entry with a little poem I wrote recently.
Actually, not even a poem. More like free verse.
Critism is welcomed, but... soften the blows, would ya. Coat the bitter pill with sugar, that sorta thing.
But more importantly I would like to know what you guys think of the subject. Thankee.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next time you're in front of the mirror.
Take a good look of yourself.
From the top of your head.
To your every little toe.

Ignore your physical imperfections.
The very fact that you are here,
Whole and alive and breathing.
Means you're a miracle.

Just a short month ago.
There was a baby, 35 weeks old.
Three more weeks to full term,
When it can take it's first breath of life.

But the baby never got her chance.
She never made it out alive.
Didn't get to see her loving parents.
Passed away before she even lived.

And something worse awaited her mother.
Who had to go through 20 hours of labour.
Just so that she could give birth.
To a baby she knew was already no more.

Now just try to imagine you you were that mother.
How would it change your outlook, on Love and Death?
In this mass of pain and lost,
What will you say to your God?

It doesn't matter how advanced medicine is now.
Or how experienced are our doctors.
A pregnancy is still an act of nature.
We humans cannot guarantee it's success.

All of us doesn't realise this fact.
We are miracles, each and every one of us.
So look at yourself in the mirror.
Say it out loud, and remember.

"I am a Miracle "

capitol punishment. [02 Aug 2003|08:53am]

How does everyone feel about the death penalty? I am not entirely sure where my stance is on this one, but I do agree that something needs to be done for the criminals as punishment. People shouldn't get away with such horrendous crimes. I'm just not sure if capitol punishment is the way to go, people don't have any time to think about and regret what they did (if they would at all) and just dying isn't really a punishment a lot of times, especially when faced with either life in prison/solitary confinement or death. I'm thinking maybe the imprisonment and hard labor would be a better option if not for the money that goes from the tax payers to keeping these inmates in good health and spirits. If anyone has any opinions or suggestions on the matter, I'd be more than happy to read what you all think.

Just joined the community and wanted to say hello. I'm 18 and feel a little jealous of all the folks here who've gone to university.
I don't have much of an education, but I read. Do I ever read. I'm interested in a rather wide range of topics, even though I don't know much about them. Equality, not the joke of "equal opportunity", politics, and James Bond. ^.~

I can't have caffeine, but I'll be right here with my glass of rum.

abortion. [11 Jul 2003|05:05pm]

[ mood | curious ]

How does everyone feel about abortion? I think there are certain circumstances where it may be necessary, but I think there are better options like adoption after the child is born, and I think that abortion is too often used as a form of birth control. Rather than having the baby and making it feel unwanted and abusing it, or killing it after it's alive, or leaving it to die on the streets though, I think abortion is a better option. One thing I don't understand is condemning abortion and going to kill the abortion doctors. How effective is that? Death for death is a bit of a hypocritical notion in this case. What does everyone think?

feminism. [08 Jul 2003|08:32pm]

iodine
[ mood | contemplative ]

How does everybody feel about feminism? as a woman, my opinions may be controversial, but here it goes. I agree with the basic premises of feminism, but I disagree with how it is carried out. I think that sometimes feminists take things too far, in attempting to preserve equal rights for both men and women, they are essentially taking rights away from men to give to women which displeases the original point of feminism. The "woman's movement" started in the late 18th century and gained ground in the 1840s bringing women together in comradery from all walks of life. They attempted and eventually succeeding in such things as women's sufferage and gained ground in getting rid of female persecution in certain aspects whichs is undoubtedly a good thing. Obviously, in some less technologically and socially advanced countries, that is still an issue in that women are forced to hide their physical appearance, made to be accompanied by a man at all times, and sometimes even coerced to succumb to genital mutilation, and this is certainly not a good thing. My point is however, if we are attempting to strive for "equal rights," becoming reverse-sexist is not an option. Down-grading men with such statements as "men are pigs" is just as bad as being male-chauvanist, the only difference is that it is socially acceptable for a women to be sexist against a man, but it is not acceptable for a male to be sexist against a female. So if you want equal rights, that's great, go for it! But make sure it's really equal rights you're going for, and not a hypocritical form of reverse-sexism. What I think people fail to understand is that men and women are different, physically, mentally and emotionally. It makes neither gender better or worse than the other, it's just the proven differences that we have. We can't deny that there is a difference between the sexes, so I believe that we should accept and bask in these differences.
