[Alternative explanation is that his grandfather thought the Russian’s would win the war]. ¤I auditioned for the role of Xander. I didn’t get it but I was in the unaired pilot for Buffy. I only had one line, but they were so impressed that I was ensured I get a role on the show. Every time I bumped into Nicholas Brendon, he would tell me that Joss was preparing a role especially for me. I finally got to audition for the role of Jesse, and completely bombed. However, by the second season I was called back and ended up with the role of Jonathan. ¤A lot of the appearances I made as Jonathan were actually scripted as “Student” and they would call me in and have me do the scenes. ¤Tom was the one who told me about Jonathan’s season seven death. We were in London and had just gotten the scripts and were reading through them. I skipped over that particular part of the scene because there was no dialogue to it. When we finished going through the script, I was praising it until Tom told me to go back and read that part. I was pretty crushed to see Jonathan die. ¤Amusingly enough, Joss Whedon and I bonded over being the biggest heterosexual theatre geeks in LA and over having played many of the same roles on stage. »Bio – Daniel 'Danny' Strong celebrates his birthday on June 6th. He grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, where he attended Mira Costa High School. He started performing in school plays as a freshman and was instantly smitten with the theatre. By the time he graduated, he had won the majority of high school drama festivals and received numerous scholarships to attend the University of Southern California (USC) as a theatre major. During his 4 years at USC, he performed in numerous productions. In his sophomore year, he performed with the USC Rep. Company at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he starred in the world premiere of Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (as Snoopy). In his junior year, he was nominated for the prestigious Irene Ryan/Kennedy Center Award, and USC awarded him the James Pendleton Award for Acting. Upon graduation, he slowly started to get small parts on television shows. His early roles were on Boy Meets World, Saved by the Bell - The New Class and the unaired pilot version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. After about a year, Danny found himself with numerous other credits including Seinfeld and Third Rock from the Sun. The TV series Clueless featured him as a recurring character, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues to do so. He has done a number of films as well (including his first starring role in an independent film opposite Tori Spelling entitled Perpetrators of the Crime), numerous TV commercials (Dr. Pepper) and radio commercials (Beyond.Com). If you're lucky, you've been able to see Danny live on stage - a place that is like a second home to him; a place that he owns upon setting foot in the theatre. Recent theatre works include No Orchids for Miss Blandish and A Devil Inside (where he played opposite Linda Cardellini, who would lead the pack of Freaks and Geeks a few months later). In 1997, USC awarded Danny with a fellowship. He came back and taught acting during the summer session. He still guest lectures at USC on the ins and outs of getting work as an actor. An avid theatre and film aficionado, Danny hopes to eventually write and direct both mediums. He just had his first screenplay optioned - Die, Harry, Die. [taken from here] |
