2:32p - NYPL Research
I went to the 42nd Street Library this morning to copy pictures for the elementary schools to use in the migration curriculum. Most of them are, appropriately, pictures of other children: boys in Lublin (circa 1928) studying the Talmud, German girls (of Turkish origin and other) in Köln playing hopscotch, boys in Köln studying the Qur'an and drinking Fanta. I didn't find any pictures of South Asian kids in Britain, but found some other good, related pictures.

Apparently, since April, one must have an Access card to pick up books to look at in the main reading room at the library. Getting one involves filling out name, address, etc. in a computer in the reading room and then getting one's picture taken by one of those machines that makes instant bad-looking photo IDs.

We just had a brief storm here. This high up, a storm reduces the visibility to mere meters very quickly. There were also, randomly, about eight police trucks in front of the building when I came back. They've left though, and the storm is over. I can see all the way to Ellis Island again.
