1:21a - Divān-ī Hāfez: 3
If that Turk of Shirāz is kind to my heart
I will bestow Samarqand and Bokhārā for her black mole.

Sāqi, give the remaining wine. You will not find in paradise
the bank of Rokhnābād and the pleasure-walk of Mosallā.

Oh, these riotous, sweet, and charming gypsies robbed
Patience from the heart as Turks plunder the king's table.

The beloved's beauty is needless of our incomplete love.
What need has a beautiful face for color, mole, and khatt?

Speak of the minstrel and wine, not of the secret of being.
For no one has solved the puzzle by wisdom, nor ever will.

From that ever-increasing beauty Joseph had, I knew
Love was going to bring Zolaykhā out of the veil of chastity.

You spoke ill of me, I am glad. You said it well. May God forgive you.
A bitter response well suits ruby lips sweet.

Listen to the counsel, my dear. For the felicitous youths
Love the counsel of a leaned old man better than life.

Hāfez, you pierced pearls with your ghazals. Sing joyfully.
For the sky will scatter the Pleiades' necklace on your verse.
