Back from the dead... ...at least for awhile...I hope.
So I haven't written since last August. Life really got in the way. To make a short resumé of past months...Autumn semester was hard. I had five classes instead of four, so I had a lot of work. I had to reduce my hours at work to be able to make it. But it termed of grades and interest, it ended up being the best semester since I started. I actually woke up on Friday morning being
thrilled to go to school. So I managed to get a A+, a A and a A-. Not even in my first semester, where the classes were so much more easier than now, did I managed to do that good. Above average too. But of course, that meant that besides school, work and baby-sitting, I had time for...not much else. My mother also got sick in October, and then I got stuck with one cold after another until it turned into one major throat infection, right in the middle of my final exams. It hurt just to swallow. I barely slept four hours in three nights, only ate jello, poudding, yogourt and ice cream and drank about ten liters of water. At least I got better for Christmas.
Then came the winter semester, that's ending in...two weeks. I began with four classes. One annoyed me so much that I ended up dropping it in the beginning of March. One I barely go because it's pretty useless to go anyway; we learn nothing and all the papers and exams are available on the net. One I have no choice to go, but it's boring me to tears. Only one is interesting...and it's an anthropology class, not even in translation....
So since I dropped one class, I'll either a) take a summer class, not an happy option, but if I want to get my diploma at the end of the Autumn semester, I don't have a choice. b) take 6 classes in Autumn, hoping all the classes I need to take are at different time...I highly doubt I'll do that though. Way too insane. c) Divide the remaining 18 credits that I'm missing in two semesters, taking an extra class to remain a full-time student. Extra class would be either German II or another langage (I was thinking Russian maybe). Chances are, I'll go with A, because I can't wait to finish....
My mother was operated in March, for the problem she had in October. In between, she got sick two other times. She passed almost one week in the hospital and she's still not back to her usual shape. It was a real slap in the face; my mother is 60, but she doesn't look it and she never had any major problems before this one. It was hard to see her like that, sick and weak.
And, the best for last, Cat and I have been planning for a few weeks now our upcoming trip to Europe. We're alike enough that we wanted to go to the same places and see the same things pretty much, and with the end of our student life approaching, we both didn't want to end up stuck in the mold of society before having done
something. And that something is going to be a two weeks trip to Germany, Prague and Paris. The first one was a given; we both learned German for a reason. ;) We'll be going in Berlin and in the South. Prague was a surprise. The city always interested me, but I wasn't sure Cat was. Turned out it was second on her list as well. There are reasons why we get along so well. ;) And Paris was her idea first. I always wanted to climb the Eifel tower by foot, but besides that, nothing much, but after reading some books and seeing pictures, I was convinced. We're leaving at the end of the semester, in 22 days exactly, but it still seems like a dream to be. It'll start to get real once I'll be sitting in the plane. ;)
That about sums up what happend to me since last August. I can't say I'll write on a regular basis, but I'll try. At the very least, I'll write down in great details our trip when we'll be back. I intend to take lots and lots of pictures (translation : about 200 hundreds), maybe I'll post them somewhere on my site...
In conclusion, spring is here, the weather's great, it's sunny and I can't wait to do bike again.
