6:25p - Camping, w00t
'Twas fun, although rather silly as you consider that we were so close to civilization that we had McDonald's for dinner. Well, after putting up the tent in the dark, we didn't feel like mucking about with the camp stove or anything, not that it would have done the blindest bit of good as we brought no food. However, my dad's impulse to go camping could not be denied.
We set up the tent on top of a bunch of walnuts as it turns out. Did I mention it was dark? However, the tent was exceedingly spacious and my all-natural, doesn't-give-me-allergies bug spray consisting of lavender, tea tree, rosemary and eucalyptus oils mixed with water and vodka was apparently effective in keeping unwanted insects away. Not that we had a control group of people wanting to be bitten by mosquitos or what have you.
I think I woke up at least every half-hour all night and in consequence look like shit today. Also, the left side of my face is sore, apparently from contact with my pillow/the ground. V. odd, that. Nonetheless, got up when it was light, had Raisin Bran and hot chocolate (my dad went grocery shopping, also got instant coffee, which I declined) for breakfast and then walked 4 miles around the biking trail, which is apparently equivalent to 80 blocks.
After that we'd had about enough, packed up the tent (it goes up and down surprisingly easily, at least surprisingly to me) and came home before the sun got too oppressive. Now my dad is having some kind of dinner party/barbecue for his birthday so the house is full of people whom I know but don't really care to talk to. At least the guy who used to threaten to eat our rabbit has been transferred to D.C. (as a transition to being let go altogether, or so the gossip goes). It does not pay to threaten to eat people's pets, it really doesn't.
