12:15a - Thoughts
Why, oh why are there no Nordic (nor even Celtic, I would settle for that) mythology courses at NYU? This continues to plague me. Is it because we are insufficiently oppressed? Except by people who insult our white legs, of course.
This is one of those Onion articles that's really not as good as it could be because it just didn't achieve the right tone or something, but it still resonates with me a tiny bit. Mostly, it makes me think of two instances when two people whom I respect, attempting in a heated manner to diffuse contentious situations, came out with the same remarkable proclamation "No one here is any smarter than anyone else!"
Well, I could see what they were trying to do and all, but I couldn't help looking around and thinking There is no point lying to anyone here. There are such things as smarter people.
My brother's latest suggestion: "Want to set this piece of bread on fire?" He really needs something better to do at night.

I have an excessive number of messaging programs in my dock -- "an excessive number" would be "five," in case you were wondering. Adium, Adium 2.0 super sekrit alpha release, Yahoo! Messenger which I don't sign into often enough for it to be useful because it's irritating, and iChat AV public beta for when it absolutely has to be audio.
I also have an excessive number of itchy bumps. My dad alleges that they are chigger bites. At least the one on my foot. He couldn't exactly examine any of the others with any semblance of decency.
Last night I went to see The Italian Job, which was kind of fun and about what I expected from it: clever plans, unrealistic computer interfaces (although the computer geek character himself was above par), underdeveloped romantic liaisons. Oh, and the tough female character nearly having an emotional breakdown at the crucial moment. What is up with that?
I also read The Da Vinci Code, which I adored.
current mood: caffeinated current music: Lucretia, My Reflection -- Sisters of Mercy
