...WHAT DA FARK IS OUR NATIONAL TRADES UNION CONGRESS DOING!????? Is NTUC first and foremost a trade union or a f*cking club that is seeking brownie points through mediocre performance? I am so tired of the govt patting its own back for making it 'just enough' for those in need. gahhhhhhhh~ |

To avoid confirmation bias with regards to the minimum wage thing i am pursuing for in singapore, I am trying to see if the law of economy can help with my conclusion. I have so far found two economists.. both from ANU.. but from completely different school of thoughts. And of course, they both believe they are and can do the world's economy justice. I shall see what they have to say and how I can word the details... For now I have this..![]() And why I have this? Although I am giving the whole research a fair shot, it is mostly cus I already know what is right and wrong, I just want to know what areas I have yet to cover and that I need to so as to better convince the public that there ARE alternatives! To argue a simple fact that an amazing jaw dropping number of #@$% sitting in their fancy ivory towers have made into complicated issue. Infact I think this occam's razor is somewhat paradoxical. Last week, I pieced everything together when I spoke to one of the cleaners in the office. She is btw a very witty and rather intelligent woman. But her working conditions are shit. YOU ask and say Singaporeans don't wanna work in these lines.. and thats why we have to employ foreigners? How about YOU do this job, with no medical benefits, with no bonous, no nothing, work longer hours than any of us who sit in the office and yet earn only less than $800 a month. And by my guess, like all the others like her I have interviewed, they have to take on another job or two at least to make ends meet. Those ends? They include their children, the roof over their heads and perhaps a few other debts they have incurred over the years of poverty. No, I am not for a welfare state. I am only asking for a dollar-to-dollar fair treatment. Just fair effing treatment, something just and something that we all deserve relative to who we are, our past, our future and our burdens. And PLEASE don't copy and paste this or put this in your report. Cus i will make this viral so much so that your supervisors will know that your incompetence has led you to copy from a rebel's blog. Thanks. Government organizations like ITE outsources many things such as cleaning by a bidding system. The lowest bidder takes the job. With low profit margins, the company who has to pay for their admin and upper management... leaves pittance for those who do the actual hard labour. So who in Singapore would take these jobs? The desperate. who will take losses home cus it means at least something. Well that doesn't quite do it for me. I won't even go to comparing them to our multi-million dollar earning ministers. I will just compare them to myself, and there already is blinding #@#$$%&* injustice blinking its neon lights at me. Competition is a LAME excuse for |

urrhh.... this counter offer thing is really not easy. Why can't they just let me go? ---update 10/11/12 ---- Counter offer sprinkled with threats. Thank you, HR, for reaffirming my decision. Double my current offer? Ahhh... Singapore, Singapore.. its not all about the money. We just no longer have the same values. You are all KPI. Your staff and students are nothing but means to an end to you. I can not be affiliated in anyway with an org that keeps shit heads just so you can continue this corrupt business. If I can't stand voting for a corrput political party, what makes u think i'll work in one similar to that? goodbye. |

https://www.facebook.com/notes/center-fo Many many Maaaaaany years ago I had a very memorable christmas.. 1. was cus it was spent with michelle yeoh right before her crouching tiger gig.. and 2. cus it was the first time I saw families of Orang Asli... my grandaunt preempted me, "..don't be frightened when you see them. most of them don't wear clothes. they can't speak english or malay either. they just live around the mountains..." (The same grandaunt who literally threw money at an indian newspaper man, which infuriated me (till today).) wow. i thought it was the coolest thing back then. not influenced by the world. how?? how is it possible? that they didn't have to rely on money or anything civilisation presents with gold and glitter. I wanted to be one too. now that I've grown up, I realise.. that its more of us not bothering to understand them, rather than that they don't speak our language. we have been so selfish... us marginalised chinese constantly crying foul play.. so much so that we have drowned out everyone around us. |

| my mother .. she has this ability to allow me to release my vulnerable self to her. and in her suggestions, i consciously let her take care of me. I wonder do all mothers give their children this look that she gives me? like she is looking at the helpless infant in her arms again, questioning herself.. 'How can I make it better for her?' | ||

http://www.tabletmag.com/news-and-politics/76739/qa-edward-luttwak/?all=1 Why kill him? They were under orders to kill him. Wouldn’t Osama Bin Laden be a source of useful intelligence? Alternately, one good reason to kill him is that you have a deal with the Pakistanis—“we’re gonna get rid of this problem”—then you need to kill him, because otherwise he might start talking about who protected him for the past 10 years. There was no deal with the Pakistanis. There’s no institutional integrity. Therefore you cannot make deals with the Pakistani system. They would betray each other. There was no deal. They killed Bin Laden simply because of the inconvenience of a trial? They killed him because of the fact that if we captured Bin Laden, every Jihadist in the world would have been duty-bound to kidnap any American citizen anywhere and exchange him for Bin Laden. |

two things that amazes me about youth (Pre-teen) and old age: 1. the invincible and immortal approach towards anything and everything 2. a smile that hides everything in the recent past and fast approaching future |

I think the whole world, the entire globe and every living, breathing human or non-human(machine) - anyone and anything capable of doing and thinking should just STOP. Stop working, stop doing, stop rushing, stop saving, and just .. just stop. Stop and rest. Stop and relax. Stop and not worry. Just stop, and let the earth, the globe and all of its contents, both amazing yet terrorizing beauty - just let them/us follow the globe's slow spinning around the galaxy's ring. Let it take lead for just one day as the sun and moon makes its way around us, let us watch them go by instead of these centuries of them watching us in strange bewilderment and disgust(? probably). No books, no writing, no reading, no praying, no singing, no internet, no nothing.. no, not even eating. Let us, the whole globe, feel together as one. Feel each other's hunger, feel each other's amazement of the sun's rise and its setting. The invisible force of the wind. To hear the howling of storms and the pitter patter of raindrops. To feel the earth move ever so slightly under our feet. To feel it age together with us. Let the day pass us by with full consciousness - yet not paying attention to our lives, but to what we have known for so long as 'time passing'.. Let us pause to feel what 6am is like, followed by 7am, followed by the sun at its peak.. and perhaps if we make it through the day, to feel what the sunset is like without anyone trying to stop it, or stop us. sigh. if I conquered the world, this is what I'd force upon it. A pause for progress. Yes, I would sit by nature.. perhaps under a rain tree, like an old wise friend.. listen to it breathe while allowing the wind to sweep through our hair and ruffle our leaves. |
