Working at the crisis hotline drove me nuts tonight. I think it has been brewing over the past couple months. I have been having less and less patience dealing with really screwed up people, the vast majority of which all think it is everyone else's fault but their own, and of course they aren't going to do anything to fix the problem except bitch about it, and is that will fix anything. So yah, they have been frustrating the hell out of me. So, I am going to take a couple month break I have decided.
This general lack of patience and compassion for people that are going through difficult times has really made me reconsider the whole counseling thing and wonder if it is right for me. Who knows...
So I am extraordinarily unhappy about the situation in Iraq, and just as unhappy with the way our government is handling it. We've had several hundred Americans killed now, 1700+ wounded, and there is no end in sight, and it continues to grow worse by the day from all the reports I read. I heard an old crusty enlisted guy who was around for Vietnam, talking today about "another Vietnam." Shit. I'm just going to stop there before I start cussing even more.
On a much happier note, I'm going home to Colorado this weekend for a short visit! And, the finals of the women's world cup is on Sunday. Can't wait!
And now I'm off to go read my book. | | 8:36p |
