Baby David celebrates FULL TERM yesterday. At 37 weeks and 1 day today, we saw his chubby cheeks during the ultrasound and his foot amazingly close to his mouth - the wonderous flexibility of babies! Nothing much to report, except we're good to go for another week. Water level is still border line at 6.4, and baby is still kicking away happily. Gynae didn't say much, as usual. He repeats what he says every week, "if water level drops too low, we'll have to induce you." Yeah, thanks. You have been saying that for 3 weeks now.
Oh and yes, he gave the ok for my brazilian, except he also gave me the weirded-out look, "Why you need to go for waxing? Very painful one know?"
(-_-")
So yes, I'll be around for yet another week.
Gosh this is becoming boring.

After 6 months of preparation, Baby David's room is finally ready.
12 weeks into the pregnancy, Lobster had the room painted with a nice shade of apple green he hand-picked while I was in Langkawi for the conference. Over the next 2, 3 months, we started shopping, with Lob doing most of the running around, scouting and researching. We finally settled for a PALi Cot which came with a nice spring mattress that will last David through his toddler years. Then, another splurge at the Taka Baby fair where we spent more than S$2,000 buying sterilisers, little clothings, cotton balls and whatnots. More little clothings bought in bulk from the wholesale shop across Guanyin temple in Bugis (the uncle who owns that place is a very nice man! He opened the shop for us even though the shop wasn't opened that day). At the OG near that shop, we spied a stroller on a discount and bought it on the spot.
Slowly, the bedsheets, pretty branded rompers, booties and mittens started filling up the Ikea wardrobe and changing table drawers.
The final touch, little animal wall decals we bought on a spree which pleased Lobster and I very much!
In the last one month, we washed, wiped, cleaned anything that can be washed, wiped and cleaned. The room is now bright and happy and waiting for Baby David's arrival.
I think we lack some toys for David though. I want to get a cot mobile and a playgym for the little tot. ^___^

First thing first:
I FORGOT TO ASK ABOUT THE BRAZILIAN!
ARRRGGHHH!!!
But everything is ok, except for the fact that baby David is a little small. At 36 weeks, he should be about 2.5 to 2.6 kg. But he's only 2.4kg when we did the scan today - another sign that the placenta is not working as well as it should be.
The aging placenta is also the reason for the water level to drop. According to the gynae, who felt obliged to feed me with a lot of information after Lob's panicky call to him on Sunday (I started wailing because the internet says low amniotic fluid is a sign of genetic defect in the baby), my placenta is not delivering as much oxygen as it should be. Therefore, the baby's body reacted by diverting most of its oxygen to the brain. The kidneys, which are not in use for the foetus, receive less attention in times like that. Therefore, the baby produces less urine, resulting in low amniotic fluid. In the third trimester, this is more likely a sign of the placenta not performing at its optimum than a genetic defect in the baby.
There is also no cause for concern as long as the baby is keeping the same level of activity compared to the day before (there is no need to keep count). Also, drinking water like a buffalo (or maternal hydration through oral ingestion of fluid, as stated in a certain website) is futile.
In a nutshell, we're safe for another week. :)
Other news: today, a third person has commented that I'm too fat. Therefore, Gwennie dear, I have decided to go into seclusion until I deliver and lose the pounds. We meet when little David is out, want? Yeah, I know. I'm vain. :P

I'm thinking of getting a wax. More specifically, a brazillian wax.
Well, ok, maybe also a leg wax.
I haven't shaven my legs in months, and it's driving me crazy. But the other and more relevant reason is that I don't want to be shaven by the nurses when I'm delivering. Shaving = nicks + stubbles later = itch = daisy go crazy, especially with stitches down there already.
But I've never waxed before, and I don't know if I have the threshold for a brazillian one. Think I'll ask my gynae this Thursday anyway and get his go ahead. The alternative is to get an epilator and DIY. Not sure if that's an entirely good idea though, given I can hardly see my knees nowadays.
Hmm.
Gwennie, how about making our meetup a waxing session huh? Hehehehe
