7:44a - get a grip
 So I have been on duty for almost fifteen hours straight. As I peruse the world wide web, I land on Donnie Yen's website to see what's new and is reminded that he has a film out called Flash Point. It is a prequel to 2005's rogue cop epic Sha Po Lang (SPL), which for some dumb ass reason (tangent alert!) apparently is packaged as Kill Zone for U.S. DVD releases?? wtf. How generic can you get with a title. But I digress. As I head on over to YesAsia.com to see what kind of offerings they have for Flash Point and come across the following description:The Donnie Yen-Wilson Yip tag team return with the blistering actioner Flash Point. The actor-director combo previously made waves with SPL and Dragon Tiger Gate, reaching new levels of excitement with their depiction of onscreen martial arts mayhem. Flash Point is a return to SPL territory - at least character-wise. This prequel to SPL finds Yen's Inspector Ma involved in a difficult case versus a trio of deadly Vietnamese bad guys... For your convenience, the dumb parts are in bold print. I mean, give me a damn break! "Martial arts mayhem..."??? Who the hell wrote this thing? Did they even watch SPL?! Mayhem is the last word I'm thinking of. SPL happens to be an excellent film about police detectives, ethics and the violent underbelly of Hong Kong. OK, so maybe it gets artsy at times, but mayhem is the farthest thing from it. And "Vietnamese bay guys?" At least use the word "villian" or something more creative. Geez...and I thought I had writer's block...
And check out this lame cover that some no doubt brilliant mind created for the U.S. version DVD. I mean, just what are you going for right here?! It's a cop film!!! Why does he have this stereotypical "kung fu" pose going on? I don't know about you, but I seriously think these people need some help in the art and marketing department.
