The meat slicer whackamoled my shit |
Work wasn't much fun today. When I got there, there were already 2 people working which basically told me I could have stayed home.
Lets back up a bit. Getting to work wasn't much fun either. I woke to freezing rain which had left the roads in a sheet of ice. I couldn't go more than 20 mph for most of the drive and I was nearly late. Then, the whole too many people scheduled left me feeling a bit out of sorts until Jose told me I could do prep. Usually, I try to avoid the meat slicer as it scares the shit out of me but.. since Tyler said he didn't know how to use it, I switched jobs with him and all was going well until I had to clean it.
I'm sure you can see where this is going. I made a few mistakes here, and it cost me. 1) While I was wearing a cut glove, I was only wearing one and, while I usually only clean the machine with the hand with the glove on, for some stupid reason.. I switched hands. 2) I forgot to lower the blade to the lowest position, which prevents any major damage from being done, as it places the blade even with the guard. 3) I was using a towel to clean the blade, and got a bit overconfident.
So, I switched hands and boom, sliced off the pad of my middle finger of my right hand. 10 hours later and it is still bleeding!
Nasty pic is behind the cut.. lol ( Read more... )
So, my question is.. SHOULD I go to the ER? I know there isn't much I can do about it, and I realize the pic isn't that good of quality but.. 10 hours is a long time to go on bleeding. Granted, it isn't bleeding that bad, but it is still bleeding.. and man does it hurt. So, do I go or do I do what I said I would which is go to the ER tomorrow if it is still bleeding? I know that there is little they can do for it, due to the nature of the cut, but the bleeding is really starting to worry me.
I have neosporin on it, and have it wrapped in gauze.. and had a splint on it while I was out. I figure that is about all any doctor/nurse would do for me anyway so I didn't need to go.. So, should I go or not?

For Aaron |
For those of you not familiar with a ballad, it is a poem composed of quatrains (a four line stanza with lines 1 and 3 in iambic tentrameter and 2 and 4 in iambic tremiter). Ballads are often used in a song-like rhythm and tell a story.
"My ballad happens to be a Biblical metaphor for myself embarking on my journey of life with struggles and adversity along the way."
Ballad 1: The Path to God He walked alone for days and days, An endless path ahead. The sun and heat did test his fear Of unforgiving dead. The steps and days grew long and hard, A test of strength and heart. The boy now understood the path His walk was just the start. The test for God was proving faith And undivided love. The stars and moon both gleam and guide From heaven up above. Yet God had promised peace and bliss In undivided love, Eternity and tranquil life In heaven up above. One dreary night the boy had heard A quiet, evil voice. He rose from sleep and suddenly Began to fear his choice. The Devil stood in front of him With eyes of beating red. These dreadful eyes began to pierce The boy who feared the dead. "You seek your God and walk a path with faith and hope of love, Yet where is God to save your soul, From heaven up above?" Despite his fear the boy began to speak in Holy tongue, "Be gone, you beast, my heart is God's, my path is not yet done." The Devil stopped and looked around And suddenly was gone, The boy then looked into the sky, And God had brought the dawn. The boy now stood alone again, But felt his test had passed. The loss of fear and faith in God He finally had grasped. The sun was bright but wind had brought A gentle summer breeze. He knew his soul was clear of dread, He's finally at ease. For God now knew the boy did love With faith and hope in him, So God began to sing the boy A mesmerizing hymn. The boy had passed the test of life And God had kept his word. The boy then died a peaceful death, As hymns of God were heard. By Aaron Krause
For reference, this ballad was written by my nephew. Go Aaron, go! Auntie Momo loves you =)
