hello again 02.06.2008 | 16:33
nearly four months into motherhood and i'm starting to drift away from my past routine. no more time to do anything else above and beyond taking care of my family. it's physically challenging but i think it's helping me burn calories. who needs the gym membership anyway? *spoken like a true sour-graping fatso! hahaha!*

i'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy weight. i still have 10kg to go. that's a LOT. one thing i need to be careful about though is posture. despite all the weight watching and physical activities parenthood brings, i think many mothers forget to care for their posture. my back is still healing in fact. when i change diapers, bending forward if the baby's not on the changing table, i feel like a bent steel tube trying to straighten up. it's like that, no kidding.

i'm back to work. i need the money, but also because i think i'm a better parent if i were also doing my own thing. i don't think it's selfish at all. i guilt myself sometimes that i don't take care of my own child and have others do it for me, but even if i were in Manila it'd be the same thing. when i get home, i'm entirely focused on my family. i don't even think of going online anymore to check emails or whatever. i don't like to go over the top that all of a sudden my life has got its purpose. i've always known that i'd be a mom. i just now have better use of time. who knew the many things i can do in a day?! between 10am and 3pm i can play with him, i can feed him, cuddle him to sleep, make lunch, eat lunch, play with him some more when he wakes up, put him to nap, iron clothes, and then catch a power nap.

my body is constantly put to the test. such a new and different life to live. i like it. sometimes i think what it would be like if i were still single. it's such a different concept now. i probably would not have strived to learn the basics of budgeting, investing, and being financially smart overall. i'd say it's a nice life. it makes me smile just thinking about it.

my long hiatus 12.03.2008 | 16:56
hi everyone!

i'm not sure if this entry is my return from hiatus but i felt like writing one here. i felt last night that i was ready for blurty again. funny and bizarre but true.

i believe that i stopped blogging here when i learned that i was pregnant. i didn't stop because i was pregnant though. my pregnancy got me lazy! i gave birth a day before valentine's to a cute little man we named liam conor. he is handsome and that's not because i'm his mother!

a month into motherhood and i'm in my learning curve. so much to learn, so much to do. can't really afford to make stupid decisions from now on. life is all good. jon's being a sweet dad. nice to have my folks come to help us through the early months of parenthood.

i miss blurtying!

re-route for the meantime 08.10.2007 | 13:31
i know i took a blurty hiatus for nearly 5 months! that's the longest time i've put off blurtying. i don't plan to permanently abandon my first (and old) blog but i felt that i needed to separately blog about the current state of things.

cheers :)

what's the dealy yo? 18.05.2007 | 19:44
wow, it's been awhile eh? after my day off due to colds, i was back to work next day and was all good in 48 hours. that was surprising because i usually took longer. maybe the weather is helping in a way too? definitely not being hot and humid was helpful.

nothing exciting has happened. oh wait.

after 30 yards of walking out of my work building, i went (finally) inside this store that has been flagging their cheap prices for dining and lounge items. i saw this shiny red coffee table with shiny metal legs. it was 65% off and so i got it. will be picking it up with jon tomorrow on our way to Red Rocks.

we also got real good deal on a new lounge set, just bought a new fridge off an NZ auction site (another good deal), and no more :) uhm, if i ever win that 12-pc cookware set for less than $100, that's a rather great deal! it just feels nice to be getting really great deals! it's such a girl thing i guess. getting all these nice bargains for nice things.

have a gooooood weekend!

first sickness in NZ 08.05.2007 | 19:53
after 6 months of living here, i caught the bug. i have a cold that started coming down yesterday. today at work i sneezed some good yummy sneezes, enough to catch attention. PC, a work mate, told me not to go to work tomorrow if i still have it. he's been having the sniffles too (due to allergy he says) but i mentioned that to him just for a comeback. i would never intend to spread the virus! i caught it in the workplace, fyi.

after a few days of gathering requirements and meeting with people (with 2 more this week), i've finally drafted an acceptable version of my first project. i'm pleased with my own work and KF was quite delighted upon seeing my initial work. hopefully this good flow of ideas never ends!

i find this cold annoying! if it's not getting better, i'll take time off tomorrow. jon's away until thursday to attend some expo in nelson. i already miss him! i guess more becuz i don't feel so well and i don't like sleeping on a cold bed. he's my natural heater. it's pretty awesome that his body is always warm enough for me not to really need to be fully covered at night. niceness :)

today i found out that ruffa and yilmaz separated and will file for annulment! i was quite "affected" becuz i really thought they could make it.

future changes 06.05.2007 | 13:54
jon and i have have been discussing about moving out soon, especially after getting our first dog complaint. last week we got our second one, and so that really made us decide to do it very soon. yesterday we went to view 2 houses and decided on the first one. it is within our suburb, but will cut a few minutes off our travel time to work.

our apartment has most of the basics we need, so moving out would mean us buying whitewares and all the others stuff. i'm excited for all that! jon's coworker is moving back to australia and is in the process of getting rid of things. i'm particular about getting their fridge, but we'll see its condition. as we were going for our walk today, we saw a garage sale that was selling a used fridge for $100, and it was pretty nice from the inside. so there are a lot of good deals out there. i've also been looking for a nice (and considerably priced) L-shaped lounge set. i love those L-shaped styles!

we've not signed the lease for the house yet. i'm quite concerned about them giving us 6-month lease only. it's not like they're just giving us half a year, but it just feels so limited you know what i mean? so anyway, the house is one story with 3 double bedrooms, 1.5 water closets (that's what they call bathrooms and toilets here!), a lounge area that has views of the backyard (that samson loved a lot he ran around it a couple of times), and tons of storage space! it looks a bit old and definitely needs paint work, but space is everything. we're hoping to move in by june to give our current landlord some time to look for new renters. we're willing to have an open house for the future renters.

everything seems to be working out well. on the job front, there's not much to say about the first week. it was basically settling myself in, and getting things done (i have a task already) by next week. i have a team mate who likes Filipino food but it's just weird that out of nowhere he'd just ask me if i knew how to cook this or that. i meant weird cuz we were both working quietly with our ipod earphones in our ears, and he'd just turn around and get my attentioin and ask food questions. bleh.

i also badly want the lights above my desk to be replaced! they were giving me headaches! i've worn my specs again, almost the entire week. not so fond of that, but i will get a new pair in a month or so.

sam also has new things to share. he'll turn 15 weeks tomorrow! he gained almost 1kg in the last 3 weeks. he had his 3rd vaccine shot and also has a microchip. it's a requirement here in NZ. the other night we felt the microchip just right below the back of his neck. it was truly the size of a grain of rice! the benefits of microchipping is for identification in case he gets lost and found, and uh, what else...? hmm...

that's it for you for now. i'm sure there are lots more to tell in the coming weeks as we prepare to move!

starting new work 02.05.2007 | 19:19
it was my 3rd day today at my new job. starting a new one is always tiring - absorbing new (and flooding) information, meeting new (and lots) of people, basically settling in. by 4pm, i'm already feeling the need to head home. i've been in a number of meetings already, a full day of training yesterday, and blaaahh just tired.

i have to say though, i'm enjoying myself and i'm well pleased about taking this route in my career. i have a 3-day training sometime in june that i look forward to going. i guess having my first day of period doesn't really help boost my energy.

i wanna sleep now. it's only 7.23pm. bleh.

Make it in Tagalog 29.04.2007 | 23:48
hi readers! i've always wanted to write in Tagalog or, at least, in TagLish, but because i have an international set of Blurty readers, i don't find it comfortable doing that. so... voila, my blog in my language:

to my Kapuso, Kapamilya, Kaberks, and whatever Kaka you may be, please pay it a visit and let me know what you think! :) Maraming Salamat Po!

who's your daddy? 27.04.2007 | 12:29
this is an interesting information that i've just read from CityLife (one of the circulars that fill up our mailbox).

The Icelandic family name system reflects the first name of the child's father. For example, a man named Jon Stefansson has a son named Jack. His surname will not be Stefansson like his father's, but become Jonsson, literally indicating that Jack is the son of Jon. If Jon has a daughter Karin, she would be given the surname Jonsdottir, which literally means Jon's daughter.

as i was writing this entry, Sam the pup was SNORING! how cute is that???
