5:00p - maryland matters
well this was a weekend to remember, i had a ton of fun, probably the most i've had all summer. i arrived at her house on friday at about 6, after a 5 or so hour drive (i stopped at just about every other rest area because i was drinking so much, and i also got lunch at roy rogers, which had the worst chicken nuggets ever. although i did get a kaleidescope with my kids meal.) her parents are pretty nice, and the mom totally spoiled me. like a lot. too much. anyway, we went to baltimore, and then came back and ate at the macaroni grill for dinner. which is quite a restaurant.
wow my memory is bad, i should have written this stuff down. i think on saturday we went to like 600 malls, all of them really ritzy and tri-floored. three floors. crazy. bought star wars: knights of the old republic for xbox, FINALLY. and grandia II for dreamcast. 12 bucks, quite a deal. then we ate at the rainforest cafe. um yeah... malls... we saw the league of extraordinary gentlemen (i refuse to call it lxg, totally gay.) that night. its a very fun movie, and it sort of influenced me to start reading the classics, even though that will probably never happen.
sunday again was mall day. went to about 500 more malls, and also to several shops in georgetown. seeing a populated area, like where erin lives, really puts into perspective how much of a redneck town i live in. its quite sad. i do think i belong in a more metropolitan area. i feel sheltered in my current surroundings. back on track... i cant really remember what else happened on sunday. parts of the weekend are still a blur. it was just constant fun, and i could barely take it. oh yes, the cheesecake factory. holy hell do they have amazing cheesecake. too bad i was about ready to throw up halfway through it.
on sunday we went to erin's youth camp thing she works at. the kids are ok, a few of them needed some discipline, but thats why i'm staying as far away as possible from an elementary teaching job. after the kids introduced themselves, where they were from, their favorite outdoor activity, color, and superhero, i realized how un-cultured our society is in comic book media. some of the kids didnt even have favorite superheroes. what is this world coming to? ok, back on topic... we took a busride to some public swimming pool. while the kids were swimming, i played magic: tg with a counselor in traning. stupid maryland magic players make up their own rules. i totally kicked his ass several times with his own deck, even though he was only 15. i schooled him anyway. after we left the camp, i strangely started feeling ill. i figured it was from lack of food and sleep, so we ate at a chinese restaurant (i make good decisions) the food was amazing, and my sickness it subsided for a bit. we were on our way to baltimore to go to an as i lay dying show that night when it returned. i felt like i was going to throw up almost the entire way, but my moms old suggested method of deep breathing always prevails. i felt 90% better after the show ended. it was good, by the way. maryland is a total fashioncore scene. girls in skirts.
and i left bright and early tuesday morning as erin was going to camp. great weekend. i like maryland.
