Pleasant Sunday Afternoon [04 Aug 2003|12:16am]
[ mood | working ]

I've been washing dirty clothes most of the day today, now I'm chilling drinking a beer. Joey put an ant trap on the puter desk and now my ant problem has disappeared. yay. Still haven't heard anything from Joey's mom and dad, his grandma had been in a coma and we wondered what was going on. I hope everything's well.

In other news, I went to Lollapalooza Friday Aug. 1.

-The story- We (me, Joey and Rich) got there half an hour early to see other folks I like us (woo!) heading to the gates. While we were in line I was informed that wallet chains wasn't allowed. My double chain wallet is a part of me; it goes where I go. Needless to say I was rather upset. I stuffed some money and my ticket in my pocket (which I don't classify as safe) and felt naked the rest of the day. We bought some merch and waited to be let in the pavilion; we got seats fairly close to the main stage. Ta-dow! The Distillers went on first and they rocked out. More coming...

Got something to say?

More! [04 Aug 2003|11:18am]
[ mood | Watching the History Channel ]

-THE DISTILLERS- Played a short and sweet set, bam bam bam one song after another. The lead singer/guitarist Brody Armstrong looked cute in her cutoff shirt and lil baseball cap. Sadly, very little crowd interaction but we were busy jumping and enjoying the punkness, lol. The song The Revenant they played sounds the way Hole should've been, but wasn't. Eat your heart out, Courtney Love! I enjoyed the Distillers live and give them 8 out of 10.

-THE STORY, CONTINUED- We got seats in section 205, row D, which is kinda off to the side but fairly close to the main stage at the Nissan Pavilion. I was glad to get up under there because of my burnt face, hahahaha. I fell asleep on the beach (at Ocean City) the day before and got sunburnt like an idiot. Bought a Queens of the Stone age t-shirt after the Distillers and sampled some free Sprite Re-mix being given out where the 2nd stage was. It was cloudy, thankfully (for my poor face) and sprinkled rain a few times but did nothing serious, which was also good.

To be continued...

Got something to say?

More stuff for ya! [04 Aug 2003|06:01pm]

Joey finally got up with his parents this morning; they had been to Frederick, MD to see his grandma. She's awake and lucid now, but unable to walk now. Bummer, but at least now we know. Feeling lazy today, I'm still recuperating from my vacation, hehehe.

-2ND STAGE- We moseyed over to the second stage and caught the last of Boysetsfire's show, they sounded pretty good. Then this British band called The Music came on and put on an excellent set; I was surprised. The lead singer bounces around and whirls like a dervish, I thought they were fun to watch. The guitar riffs were very catchy too. I give em 9 out of 10. Other than that, I didn't really bother with the second stage. After we watched some of The Music we ran back to the pavilion to catch the Donnas.

-THE DONNAS- Played their own brand of quirky, beer-soaked rock and roll and they were great! These girls can play, and party, with the best of them. The bass player is looking a mite chunky, maybe it's time to switch to lite beer, girls! They played a cover of "Strutter" by Kiss and did a tremendous job, the crowd responded to them pretty good, and performed a lot of their songs from the latest album, Spend the Night. Good, good, good. I give them 7.5 out of 10. Afterwards at the FYE (Fuck You Everybody) booth they signed autographs (which you had to buy a cd to be able to get in line. Bastards.) and Rich got his vinyl Donnas signed, they were pleasantly surprised that he'd brought it to Lollapalooza, smiled, and they all shook his hand. They signed the outside cover and the inside sleeve under each of their names, verra cool! They are so gracious, sweet, and down-to earth it's unbelievable.
