    Time Event
    3:42p
The little girl in the back seat
A father was driving his little girl on a long trip across some states.

In the first day, the little girl was bursting with questions.
"What will we do if we get hungry?" she asked.
Daddy replied that he'll pull over at a snack house once every few hours to get food.

"What if I need to go wee-wee?" she asked again.
In his quiet manner, Daddy replied that he'll find a restroom for her at the stop-points when she needs one.

And the questions went on and on. Each time, Daddy could answer with confidence, and without fail.

In the second day of the ride, the little girl asked all these questions over again. Without losing a beat, Daddy replied all with patience.

On the third day, something weird happened. The girl was no longer asking questions. The Daddy thought that she had fallen asleep, and checked in the rear mirror. However, the little girl was wide awake with her large watchful eyes darting at the scenery from the side windows.

Being very surprised and concerned, he asked: "Girl, are you ok? Are you sick? Why are you so quiet today? Do you have any questions for me?"

She replied in all earnesty and innocence, "Why should I have any questions? Because Daddy, you're driving."

When people just received Jesus into their lives, and accepted that they have a Heavenly Father watching over them, they have lots of questions. Is He real? Will prayers work? How come I need to attend a cell group? Why are you asking me to atend so many bible studies? Why do we need to read the bible at home? Isn't it more convenient to be a Sunday Christian?

These questions are common, and God will bring people into our lives to answer the questions. Other times, He'll answer us in His own ways: through random thoughts (which aren't so random because they all point to a direction), through songs (could be secular ones as well), through scriptures, through dreams, through visions. But one thing is for sure. As long as you're willing to listen, He'll speak.

When we reach a certain level of maturity, we stop asking. We stop doubting. Or rather, we ask less often. "God God, why is this happening to me? God God, how come I'm not having my breakthrough yet? God, are you real?" That's when we begin to trust Him as the driver, and we understand that by being in God's car, we're going to be safe. Because He knows the destination.

The above is a story told to me, and I've expanded on the explanation to make it more understandable, but unfortunately more luo suo as well. The below is a sequel that speaks of some things that are so real, which I've understood over some time.

The little girl grew up, and Daddy aged. She felt that Daddy's no longer driving at the speed she desires. Daddy's going to boring places. Daddy's out of touch with her dreams, her goals, and her destinations. She takes over the wheel, banishes him to the back seat. When he senses danger in front, he warns her.

    "Oh shuddup," she thinks.

So Daddy fell silent. And after a while, the girl drives like he's no longer around.

One thing she has forgotten. The man who accompanied her as she grew up, provided for her when she was down and out, the man who gave her life - has blended into nothingness at the first instance she could drive by herself.

Will we all become ungrateful after we've overcome trials with God's help? Is backsliding a non-issue?

Throughout history, great teachers like Confucius have taught us to yin2 shui3 shi1 yuan2, qu3 zhu1 she4 hui4, yong4 zhu1 she4 hui4. Yet more often than not, we fail to acknowledge the origin of all things. The giver of all gifts.

    Current Mood: mellow
