Check out snippets of the bible - don't be a tortise in a well! Haha, hope you enjoyed the tortise in the well thing, coz I thought to be a frog, at least might still have some hope of jumping out, but if you're a tortise, well.... good luck!
Anyway, I started reading the bible simply because I prided myself as an intellectual, and I really needed to know what's in the bible to debunk it (as an atheist not so long ago). So if you're like me last time, never got the chance to flip through this mysterious black book which happens to be an all time most-read book, do run through the following scriptures, which happen to be my cell group frens' favourite verses. :-)
1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Philippians 4:4Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Isaiah 40:29-31He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Philippians 3:8Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Philippians 4:6-8Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
Philippians 4:13I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:19And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
John 13:34A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
My favourite?
Rom 8:28For we know that all things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
