Preference or conviction? Many times we do things out of a preference. I like to eat pasta, let's go Prego. Or I enjoy Starbucks, let's chill out there instead of B.Boss. But preferences can be swayed in times of pressure, or dissent. Like...
A: Let's go watch The Best Bet! I like the cast so much!
B: No lar, so no class. Watch Baran better.
A: Har? Really ah?
B: Ya la, i go buy tix now.
See... we see that A's preference is for TBB, but it can be swayed with dissenting voices.
So a preference will only be favoured when it is protected from opposition, when it is convenient.
But ought we live life with only preferences?
I have a couple of convictions in this journey of life, and those who know me will know that God and love are two key convictions. Going to church, cell group and ministry, are convictions. A recent addition is overnight prayer meetings.
I went for the second one last night, despite feeling lazy, groggy and lethargic throughout the day. But since it is a conviction that my prayers matter, I went ahead. The breakthrough came at 3.45am. Once the second song started playing, I just fell to my knees, and when i next opened my eyes, the whole auditorium were on their knees, and some were even lying prostrate. The awesome presence of God. And we actually just enjoyed the presence, joy and love of God till 5am! It's simply a new level of breakthrough... and I'm glad a total of 5 CG members were with me to share the moment.
So attending overnight prayer meetings rose from a slight conviction to a convicted conviction. HAHA.
To end the prayer meeting, we went KAP Mac for breakfast! 6am, and we were ordering our meals. *drools* I'm such a glutton that they were all pretty convinced that I have worms inside of me.
But well,
neng chi shi fu. :-)
