    The Current State
It's amazing how different our lives become after we leave school.

Some are happily employed, some most are over busily employed. Yet others have little clue where they're heading. And in this category, some are gainfully unemployed, others are depressingly unemployed.

I'm glad there's relatively little pressure for me to find employment. Firstly, the next dinner is not dependent on my income. Secondly, I have no loans to try to pay off.

But according to Marslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Man does not live on bread alone. Rather, there's the need of social belonging, love and self-actualization, amongst other basic needs. Other than putting food on the table, there's the need to be accepted by the greater society - your family and community. And people hastily classified as bummers usually don't fare well here. Worse still... "bummers" hardly can self-actualize.

However, please kindly note the difference between "bummers" and those gainfully unemployed. Bummers are those who sit around doing nothing, drowning their state of nothingness in alcohol or hibernating on the couch. Those gainfully unemployed are catching on lost time with their friends, family and the bigger community at large.

After being in the rigid education system for 17 full years - complete with holidays jam packed with activities- I think we all deserve a good break.

Instead of hurridly jumping into a job you think you'll dread waking up to, let's take some time to ponder what we're really created for in life. Meanwhile, do that catching up, for once life gets stuck in the 9-9 and wkends burnt routine, this current state will be lost. And maybe, forever.
