    Holistic too idealistic?
It was a busy day - yes - even bummers can lead a hectic lifestyle.

Very nice to meet poki for a little while at BK and walk her to Goldhill Plaza b4 i meet up with old friends from my ex-firm. The yada-yada with the ex-colleagues rambled way past their lunch break, and hence i was late for my next appointment for a full 40minutes. and knowing me, you know how super embarrassed i'll be when being late for such atrocious time. =(

But the talk with ex-colleagues were really confusing for me. SIGH. Just like the talk with poki didn't manage to clear things up in my head.

So carrying a shoulderful of load, I went to meet J. J recently joined a big insurance company, and wanted to do her sales pitch on me. Since she's new, her boss came to sit in. And instead of her doing her pitch, the boss was doing it. Oh man. Give me a break. I came to hear her talk, not him. And you know what i dislike? His strong cigarette (or mebbe cigar) smell and the golden cuff links. OK - so that's where his clients' money went to - HIM.

Anyhow, at the end of HIS sales pitch, I asked about Philips vs the independent companies. Coz i'm seriously considering buying my stuff from L, with whom I've established a great relationship over the past year. Very honestly, he told me about Philips being an independent financial planner - selling products from most smaller companies so that their selling point will be to offer the best and economical plan for their client. But in reality, they'll be pushed to peddle products that give them the highest commission. And he boldly made one point - all agents come into the line to make money. Would they really want to offer the best plan for clients instead of make the most money? "They like to appear as holistic... but you really think they're so holy?"

That's where I could have gone into a really deep discussion about how people should never put chasing money as the priority in life. I have a couple of friends in this line, and they often tell me that the way to sustain in this line is to think of it as helping people - if making money is the one and only aim, then you'll be so dejected from rejections that there won't be motivation to carry on. Perhaps that is why some most people do give up.

I don't think trying to be holistic is too idealistic. It is an ideal for we'll never be totally holy - but it is a goal for us to keep trying to reach. And I believe in the thousands of financial planners (or so they call themselves) in Singapore, there are more than a handful who are in this profession to really help their clients - be it family or friends or even strangers- to obtain the maximum coverage for the amount of premium they can offer.

And you'll know where I'll feel safe putting my money with - agents who i see will stay long in this field, who believe in the holistic (wholistic) approach, and whom puts God first in their lives.

Anytime, anyday, you know that it won't be that cigarette-dependent or whatever addict that is going to earn my money.

Not that I have an income to begin with though.
