monday monday was a VERY LONG day saturday. Tammy (bloodintheeye) woke us up at like 8 fucking 30 in the morning after being out til bartime. we all kinda stumbled out our rooms. nice of the hotel to have a free continental breakfast (for thge price we paid for that room they had better have something, lol). had to move the bed away from a wall because well...you can guess i'm sure. jennifer, me...in bed...figure it out.
Tamnmy went up to the desk and came back and said she was told where an internet cafe was. it was this little coffee shop that has like 60 different kinds of coffee. the coffee the hotel had wasn't doing a damn thing so we went to this place called Alterra Coffee Roasters a few blocks away. in a way it reminded of this place called cafe on the corner in dover nh. at the cafe on the corner i used to have this coffee called "rocket fuel" which was a real jolt. here at this place? "Punch in the face" was the one that jolted me back to being human again. I wound up buying a pound of it, though 10 bucks for a pound of it seemed steep. if i could've found a dunkin donuts i would've bought their shit instead.
there's three computers in this place so we all took over two of them, 5 bucks an hour to check emials and shit. here i am typing like a maniac so I can get an update on how the night went up. didn't want to try doing it all in one post, i'd be here forever. jennifer checked her emails, checked some poetry thing she belongs to and that was it. she watched over me as I left comments on my community here in blurty and said "are there really that many, let's see if i can spell this as she said it in spanish. ben de-hos in Blurty, tammy and I said "yes" at the same time, lol. jennifer just shook her head and lauhged saying "that's why i don't do this blig thing, whiney nothing little nobodies who won't mean shit outside their little community". bwahahahahahahaha.
we went to summerfest and I got clobbered on the bumper cars again. we went on 4 times and i was whalloped all over the place by tammy and jennifer. I at least waited til after 12 noon before i hit a beer stand. it became anpther long day/night of drinking. me and pabst blue ribbon stands were becoming good friends, lol. the hair of the dog made the hangover go away, lol.
before the concert i got jennifer's cell phone and called the bar we were gonna go to again. was able to reserve the same 4 seats at the bar we had last night so that was cool.
I had never seen collective soul, glad i was able to last night. wasn't as close as we were the night before for peter frampton but they were decent seats. can't complain. after the concert we hit the bar. they're chicago style italian beef sandwhich and fries was just what the doctor ordered. Two people from the night before recognized us and asked Jennifer if she was gonna sing. She said "of course I am". she liked the compliments on her singing, I think she liked them more coming from anyone but me, LOL!
she did her fleetwood mac and stevie nicks songs and then followed it up with "don't you need" by melissa ethridge. I decided to start off with "ashes to ashes" by steve earle, which i had never done before. I'll have to see if the dj's in the dells have that song because it's one I want to do again. after that i did "hurt" by johnny cash (like this version than the nine inch nails one), and finished with "devil went down to georgia".
at about 1 I asked Mike the bar owner if there was a place where one just wanted to "wind down" where would that be? it was getting wall to wall with people and getting alittle nuts so best bet was to go before some idiot fucks up. Mike said "4 blocks up, on the left, it's off the main drag, not many people go there because it's not on the main drag". he said 'one minute" and acouple minutes later he came back and said "I called over there, they're still open, not many people in there, it's more of a locals place but I know the guy who owns it. I usually go there if we can get people out of here". I knew i wasn't paying my tab but i left a 10 dollar tip, jennifer did the same and mike gave tammy and jerry another discount. they left a nice tip as well.
i don't even remember the name of the place but I do remember it was nice. decent jukebox and a pool table. much quieter. so we shot pool and I monopolized the jukebox til bartime. didn't have a search mode but the cds in there were decent. I'll have to remember this place for the next time I come to milwaukee. bartime came and we went back to the hotel.
sunday morning the idea was to sleep in until the noon time check out time. jennifer had um, "another idea". got back home after 1, checked things out and went back to sleep. went out for acouple last hour before bartime last night as well.
well i'm off to work, if i don't have the restaraunt job (because boss hates the fact I work a second job as doorman at a bar 4 nights a week now) no biggie. doorman job is easier and pays good. stand there, drink and make sure the idiots don't fuck up. perfect setup for a guy like me. I'll probably see jennifer later when she gets out of work, if not, no biggie, it's old school wisconsin beer night somewhere in town. a buck a beer on certain brands so that'll be nice to enjoy again. later.
