LONG update..guess i'm livin the la vida loca again, lol. It was an interesting weekend, well for me it was. Friday night after work they had karaoke at the german bar so I stayed there until almost bar time.when I got out of work I called Tim on his cell, he jason and josh were already there. they had thier bikes parked out front and a bartender put an orange pylon next to their bikes. it was for me to park my motorcycle there when i got there. I pulled up and when I walked in Ian one of the bartenders says "there's the forth horsemen". I looked at Tim, they didn't say anything about us forming our own motorcycle club, so I said "there might be something to that name after all, lol".they had dollar shots so in between me singing and stuff alot of people were buying me shots to go with my pitcher of beer and my vodka cranberry juice and redbulls.
we all went to the sandbar for last call afterwards. we all smoked the tires when we left. hearing 4 harleys smoking the tires at once is quite a sound and I'm sure we woke someone up doing that, lol.
when i got into work saturday afternoon I was informed that I had to interview 2 women for the evening salad girl job. They're adding another one so we'll have 3 of them. it came down to a woman from poland and a mexican woman. my boss said "I think I know which one you're gonna go with, but you have to interview both because whoever you choose, you're the one they'll be working with".
So the polish one comes in first. I talk to her, take her in back and show her exactly what needs to be done, you can tell she wasn't really "in to" what needs to be done. she's always asking why does it have to be this way or that way and after the forth time i said, "you know of a better way"? that shut her right up. so I knew there she wasn't gonna be the one and if the mexican woman was just as bad, I'll tell my boss that I chose neither.
The mexican one came in a half hour later. things did start looking up. I looked over her application(like I did the polish one and the polish one had all addresses in poland, so she was just here for the summer). I noticed the mexican's address was formerly from chicago(Her name is jennifer). I said 'you currently live acouple blocks away from me(which helped break the ice and opened the convo up more)and your former address in chicago..on sacramento, isn't that between Milwaukee ave and Logan blvd."? her eyes widened as she said "How'd you know that"? I told her where in logan square i had lived when i was in chicago and told her what was on the corner of fullerton and milwaukee ave. so it helped lighten up the interview, but I knew I had to test to see if she could do the job. hiring her on looks and being from chicago wasn't gonna cut it with my boss if she's a flop doing salad bar and some prep stuff.
so I went thru the same routine i did with the polish woman. took out some mushroom,s and explained that here, the owner wants them to be sliced this way. Jennifer then says "Can I show you something"? I stepped back and said "fire away". Jennifer showed me she could slice and dice mushrroms real well, she actually one upped how i do it. I thought to myself.."ooook, let's see how she does with the green peppers". she went thru them too. one of the cooks noticed this to and said to me "What do you think bill"? I said "I think we have a new salad girl".
I had her fill out the paperwork..and I started her last night I added her schedule around the other two salad people so she'll be working alot with me which is what my boss wanted. as her and i were talking she saw I was wearing my united bikers of maine shirt under my work shirt. "You ride one of those"? she pointed at the motorcycle on that shirt. I answered yes and said "if you want i'll show it to you when you leave". I walked her out after finalizing everything and showed her my motorcycle. I said "I'd offer to give you a ride on it but I'm still on the clock". she smiled and said, "Since I just moved here I guess you know the bars in this town"? i laughed and said how i'm known in a few here, she then said, "maybe I'll meet up with you at one, where would a former chicagoan like you go for a drink"? I said the german bar most likely tonight as I was gonna meet up with tim(with his g/f karen),Josh(w/becca) and Jason (who was bringing someone along). she said "you never know, I may see you there tonight then". She moved here with her sister, and didn't have a b/f.
so i went back into work, called my boss and let him know who I chose. "You chose different, I thought for sure you would've went with the polish woman". I explained what happened and that the exican woman was better. then went back to doing what I do at work. which was a hundred things cause sunday being father's day we were gonna need alot of things prepped. we got busy and i helped on the cooking line as well.
Punched out....did a change of clothes at work, thru my work stuff in my locker and headed to the german bar. when i came in andrew who was working the bar said that a woman came in looking for me. I was like "what!? get the fuck outta here". Becca said it was true, becca descibed her as "she looked hispanic or like an indian woman, she was wearing a chicago harley-davidson shirt". I shrugged my shoulders cause I had no idea who it was. Josh said it wasn't Julie or anita but she did have dark skin and black hair. I then told them how I hired a mexican woman and thought maybe it was her. I said "somehow I don't think so, no fucking way".
Boy was I proven wrong. I went up and sang "Dragging the line" and Jennifer walked in. she was wearing a chicago harley-davidson shirt(and looked damn good wearing it i must say). they all pointed to where I was singing. They all moved down one seat so she could sit with us. I got done and when i went to my seat I asked what she drank, "you like what, long island iced teas or something"? she said "no way give me a fucking beer", lol.aaah the straight up chicago attitude.
I found out she's 40. 1 son who moved out on his own to indiana and she moved here because a bad relationship and wanted a fresh start. she likes alot of the same music i do as well. she fit in well with how we all are. her, karen and becca became fast friends and everything just clicked. Karen went up and did "commitment" by leann rimes and Jennifer wanted to look at the song book. I asked her if she sings karaoke and she said "I've sung a song or two". she wrote out a card and turned it in. we all were joking, talking, drinking and laughing, and in between singers catlin the dj plays "Maybe Tomarrow" by the stereophonics (which everyone knows is my anthem). I gave catlin my two finger wave thanking her. jennifer looks at me and says "You know this song"? Josh says "he knows it and he lives it, everywhere we go that has karaoke the djs play it for him".she said she didn't know i like the stereophonics I told her i like that song and then added "there's alot about me you don't know". she jabbed me back and said "the same goes here too my friend".
after that song jennifer goes up. we hear the opening chords to "rhiannon". becca, karen tim and i all say at the same time real loud "FLEETWOOD MAC"! she did the live version off "the dance". Jason asks me if i ever heard her sing, and I said "I just met her this afternoon, i don't know what she can do except for the job I hired her for". so here's tim and josh jabbing me on what was the REAL reason I hired her for, lol. cause she's latino and I like latino women, her looks, etc. but then we all got silenced when she started singing the song. oh my god did she nail that song good. she got a huge ovation from the whole bar when she got done. I was just bewildered.
alittle while later Tim asks if I'm interested in going to bronco billy's. karen wanted to go there and since they have karaoke there and the pool tables aren't upstairs like in the german bar. I asked jenifer if she wanted to go. she hasa voice too. she said "sure, i'll go, now you can give me that ride you offered earlier". so we al downed our drinks, left tips for the bartenders and away we went. as we walked out she asks if we're some sort of motorcycle club or something, we all laughed and I said "we're getting there i told her the two names we're trying to decide on and she said "Four Horsemen"? That's a wrestling thing and isn't that like from the bible or something" she then named 4 names of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death and asked who was gonna be who? we already decided war was best for me, lol. we're working on the rest if we go with that name and she cracked up when we told her the design we're gonna have. "a reference from the bible with a flaming pentagram...nice". it looks more and more like we're gonna go with the four horsemen m.c. name.
we get to bronco billy's and it was about half full. we were able to get our favorite table, by one of the pool tables. I still had about 100 bucks of free drinks and food left on that prize so I bought everyone a round of drinks. we weren't there 5 minutes and "Maybe Tomarrow" plays. Jennifer looks at me and says "you got it going on up here don't you". I just said I know alot of people and I come in here often. she tasted my vcr and ordered one. the dj came over, she gave me a hug and left a song book for us.I introduced jennifer to barb. she got to know everyone else and then barb says, 'can I talk to you a minute"? I walk a few steps away and barb informed me that anita was on the other side of the bar. "she saw you walk in with the new girl, i just wanted you to know she was here". I told her it was fine, she has every right to be here too. acouple of anita's friends came by and said hi to me and did a quick catch up with me. i passed to anita that it was cool and i had no beef with her being here too.
anita went up and sang her song. she came by and tapped me on the shoulder as she was going up to the stage. I waved at her. then i told jennifer who anita was. jennifer asked if there was a problem with us being in the place. I said no. jennifer and karen teamed up for a game of pool and jennifer plays real good.better than julie actually which isn't a slight on julie, jennifer knows how to use the english better and banks better, it's a skill that can be taught and learned by playing more. jennifer did put in a song to be played. I was just watching the game when anita came up to me. she asked about julie and i told her what happened. her and julie don't talk anymore and she said "Julie hit your line just like I did and debbie did" and i said "yep". anita then asked if jennifer and i were an item and i said no, she's gonna be working with me...explained she's from near the same neighborhood in chicago as I once lived, yak yak yak...and anita said "she's very pretty, you always have good taste in women". she then squeezed my hand and walked away.
karen sang "It's a heartache". I went up and followed up with "I'm no angel" by greg allman. Jennifer says I'm "whacked" in all the different songs I like, lol. I might be whacked in more tha one way but i'll let others make that decision, lol. When it was jennifer's turn (which came after a karaoke regular, a black woman named stephanie belted out an etta james song, which got the loud cheers as steph is an awesome singer), Jennifer whispers at me "that woman is a hard act to follow". But she did because she got the cheers too for singing "Don't you need" by melissa ethridge. she had alot of people mesmerized by her singing voice. she does good impressions of fleetwood mac(ones that stevie knicks sings), stevie knicks and melissa ethridge songs. hell more than good. better than I've ever heard anyone else do and the cheers she got more than backed up that opinion.
steph came over and I did the intros. they complimented each other's singing talent. as i went to take my shot on the pool table I hear steph telling jennifer how i'm a decent guy, etc. I heard jennifer say "That's what I've been hearing, he's a riot". I found out while i was talking with jason and josh, karen, steph and jennifer decided to play kamakaze karaoke with me. they went thru the song book and chose a song, wrote my name on the card and karen turned it in. cause suddenly the barb says over the mic, Biker bill, karen and your lady friends want you to sing this song". oh shit..what the hell did they fucking choose. I was thinking the worst like "like a virgin" or "Girls just wanna have fun". It turned out to be "Lady" by the little river band, which is a song I know, lol. I found out later that karen wanted to hear me sing love songs again and after asking me and totally blowing that request down she took it upon herself with the other ladie's help to change that idea around. it was a total "make bill blush moment" because during the part of the song where it goes "so lady...let me take a look at you now". Jennifer comes up to the stage, slowly spins around and then struts away. I felt myself getting choked up and cracked alittle bit singing. the dj's were laughing as my face went red and I'm thinking "oh...my god...". i really had taken a good look at her when she did that. my thoughts were all over the place and I almost fucked up singing the song, which is what they were looking for. even anita got a laugh from that.
when i got done i made everyone i was with crack up as I was making sarcastic comments on what they did. "this isn't funny, this isn't even in the top ten of fucking humorous". it was getting close to bar time so karen, jennifer, becca and I put in our final cards to sing. I tried for "black coffee" by lacy j. dalton but was told someone else is singing it. I was like "WHAT"!? i was gonna do it for my friend sadie's memory and for an instant i was PISSED. but barb said "Someone you know is gonna do it and I'm sure they'll do it justice". said "they'd better, i should've sooner but that's ok, sadie's looking down on me now and probably saying "easy does it, let go".
Jennifer out of nowhere gave me a hug and said "thank you". I asked thank you for what? "you've made me feel at home here, I don't know anybody but you welcomed me into your world and made me feel so welcome". i told her there's plenty of chicagoans in the dells/lake delton area then she said "true but you're from the same area I'm from. chicagoans usually stick together(which made me laugh as outside tim josh and jason, most of the people i know here are from the chicago area, lol). You've done right by me even though we just met today". and then joked saying "and i'm gonna be working with you of all things". It was karen who did "black coffee" and she said "Bill this is to the memory of your friend who recently passed away". Karen did a nice job with it. I had to explain to Jennifer about how sadie passed away because jennifer is "new" to the group. I did "Back on my feet again" by the babys and jennifer decided to do "rhiannon" again and got such a rousing ovation for doing the version from "the dance".i think it's her best song. that and "don't you need" are her best and strongest songs.
we booked before last call and landed at the sandbar right as they were about to call "last call". both a bartender and the owner of the sandbar were there, they both know me. the owner more as I once bowled for his monday night bowling team. so he was more keen to let us have how can i say.."alittle more than just last call". he knows I'm becoming quite the regular since he moved into a bigger place and he said "fuck the chalet. i'll take your business anyday...you bring people into my bar so you help make me money..i find ways of thanking you". we all were quite fucked up ,lol...but what sucks is that bars close too early here in the dells. in chi-town. on a saturday night, they close at 5 am(unl;ess yu got to forest park wjhere it's 6:30 or cicero where it's 23 hour a day bars). when jennifer went to the ladie's room, karen comes up to me and says. "you find the hot ones Bill". i joked and said "I always find the loony ones too, hot looking on the outside, psycho emotional fuckups on the inside". Karen laughed as she knows what I was talking about and then said "I don't think so with this one". I said to karen that she's not my g/f, i just met her. Karen said "Women's intuition...the one thing that men can't ever figure out...maybe i see or know something you don't Bill". I tried to get her enlighten me more and she said "weren't you the one who told me that life is a journey and not a destination? You have to experience the journey all your own buddy..I'll just say this, what you're doing is classic bill...keep doing it..it's working, take it for what you want on that". I'm like "oooooook..whatever the fuck...that was supposed to mean".
I asked the owner about getting maybe a 6 pack or 12 pack. he said "If you promise not to smoke the tires like you guys did last night. I'll sell your friends whatever package goods they want(I already had some 8.3% alcohol beer at my place). they got what thhey wanted. Tim and Karen didn't join us for the "after bartime party" at my place. I knew what karen and tim wanted to do, lol. jason and his date? same thing, but josh wanted to party more and becca wanted to know jennifer more so..it was my place we went to( my place a few blocks away, jennifer's who's near me or josh and becca who live 30 minutes away in rock springs...we all piled at my place, LOL!). one of my other friends who i know is from chicago, jimmy said "hey chi-town". we both looked and we both laughed..I said "sorry jen but i think he's talking to me, lol". we shok hands and introduced jimmy to jen..i said "she from chi-town too and...she's a CUBS fan too". after she said where she lived jimmy said "that was near you wasn't it". I chuckled and said "yep...and I never knew her, ain't tha a bitch...".before we left jen and I heard a song we BOTH know..."saturday in the park" by chicago. her and i both sang the song, word for word as only chicagoans can. jennifer and I belted it out and there were acouple other chicagoans in the bar, they clapped when we were done. Josh said "doesn't karaoke ever end with you two"? Before i could wisecrack at him jennifer said "it ends when we say it ends, you want some of this"? she said it jokingly but you can see the "attitude", lol. josh looked at me and said " can tell she's from chicago, she has that same badass kind of attitude you do..I'll let you deal with her". lol.
we went to my place...we drove by where jenifer lives. she has a nice little house with a small yard. she's renting it and has a nice deal. she knows I have a nice deal on my place too. Becca asked her why rent, just buy and I was gonna go into my "why mow your ow lawn when the landlord will do it..why shovel snow when the landlord's supposed to do it..why have property taxes" speech when jen beat me to it by saying "I ain't mowing a lawn unless i have to, that the landlord's problem not mine...char--le". ol.
josh and becca left after one beer at my place. I offered to walk jennifer home..but she said she needed to use the bathroom.we were drinking in the patio area with tunes coming out my window thanks to my big yamaha speakers my neighbor behind me gave me before he moved out). we go in my place...and..yes...it happened....she shut the door, locked it..grabbed me and kissed me. I was actually very shocked. I aid "i thought you had to use the bathroom". "I lied". she then said "you saying you don't want none of this"? I never said that, LOL! was ALL for it, LOL!
sunday morning/afternoon (it was after 12 noon, lol) we um..."got to know each other alittle more". i made coffee and then we watched the cubs game until, we both had to go into work so i put a tape in and recorded the rest of it.i'm so hooked on cubs baseball again, lol. last couple weeks i been addicted to watching it on WGN channel 9 as that's how it always was for me growing up in chicago. fuck american idol. and the reality shows. cubs and devinci's inquest are it for me, lol. we both went into work together..and by the end of this week it'll be around...the rumor that i hired the salad girl because i wanted to fuck her, lol. well..in a bad taste joke kind of way? she can "toss my salad REAL WELL", LMAO!
we went out for acouple drinks last night. i went into work just to see if things were cool (I'm on call today and tomarrow night, but i still go in to make sure things are going good. if it's busy I'd help out if need be..that's the mark of a decent manager). then i came in again to do my shift. things flowed great with her doing the salad bar stuff. no problems. not real big mistakes (I knew she was new to our system but she adapted quickly to it and in the end she says the job is very easy). we left at the same time after closing. we went to the german bar and after mentioning there was karaoke at mark's restaraunt in baraboo, she said she just wanted to stay here....but of course...an hour later she goes "you knoiw how women love to change their mind"? I laughed so hard and said "name me one woman that doesn't ever do that". she asked if she could change her mind and say in a nhalf hour i could show her where mark's restaraunt was for karaoke...how did i know? lol.
We rode over there and she stunned the crowd there with her fleetwod mac and melissa ethridge songs.some guy tried to hit on her and I tried not to chuckle...god do I know this routine so well...Jennifer said "you see the guy next to me, ask him if he minds you taking me home". The guy knew who i was because he said "fuck that...I know about Bill. I don't want to be pistol whipped". he walked off and jen asked if it was true i owned a gun...I showed her my firearms licence..."that doesn't answer my question". I told her how I have a 9mm baretta and later this week my friend bruce is sawing down his double barrel shotgun so i can buy it from him. I braaced because julie didn't like guns...jennifer said "my man...do what you need to do... they take you from chicago but chicago still stays with you...I can relate to that". we then came to her place before bartime last night. 40 years old and man her body can "go", lol. i'm not gonna complain. she said earliewr at the german bar she drinks alot. I said "so do I", and she said "really now. Ian working the bar and his g/f michelle(who i knew from working at perkins) both informed her how much of a "heavy hitter" i really am. Ian then added.."if someone fucks with him..it's like he sobers right up.I never seen that out of anyone..no drunken stance. no staggering. Bill seems to sober right up and never backs down...I heard abiut his reputation up and down broadway here in town..he isn't one to be fucked with. I wouldn't want to piss him off".
I been into work twice today even though it's my night off. went in to check to make sure things were flowing fine the first time..second time? well guess why, lol. she's doing awesome at her job. i asked around for someone who's just started, her dicing, cutting and setting up the salad bar is great according to everyone. she even after slicing red and yellow onions in the slicer helped prepare the pulled pork. so...far as I'm concernec..job wise., we have a keeper, lol. anything that happenes between hrer and me? well....that'll between her and me..right now in that dept she's a keeper there too if she allows it to be that way. right now she is. we're gonna go out for a couple after she gets off work which is in about 20 minutes. i'm gonna pick her up. she loves hte fact she can walk to work. gas prices so fucked up lately i can relate. joy a cook i work with all the time she noticed that jennifer and i have a connection. it won't be long before word gets around, lol. i told jen that it might get around that I'm "banging the salad girl",lol jen told me "then you better keep banging me good like you have". oohhh...my god...she also said "you might have been with latinos before, i'm gonna be unlike any woman you've ever been with..that crazy crap don't work..i'm a big girl, i know my decisions and i think i know your line you have...michele told me about it...i'm not about the stupid shit...you be with me then you be with me and I'll be with you all the way. if i fuck up i say so". she also told me only one other time had she been with a white guy...he fucked up and she kicked HIS ass to the curb, LOL! well. I guess i was told, LMAO! later..i'm outta here for the night. i wrote more than enough, lol. tomarrow we're gonna go to a silk screener about getting the four horsemen m.c. shirts made up. I'm still working on the actual patch design so it looks like I'm gonna be in a club I helped form...the four horsemen m.c. why ride some one else's vision when you can help create your own. that's where the REAL freedom and originality comes in.
