words for today The quickest way to ruin a relationship with someone is to actually try to have a relationship with them.
wound up calling the owner of the bar i know in milwaukee while I was at work. wanted to tell him why I won't be coming into his place anymore. he actually talked me into coming in last night. he said "I still want you to come in, my wife and I enjoy you singing the karaoke. don't worry about the card, I'll give you a different one. Julie's dad may own the building but I own the bar so I'll hand out free stuff to who I want".
so right after work I went over to sharky's to have a quick beer and then shot off to milwuakee. what Jimmy the owner did was place a "reserved" sign by the bar stool I always sit at. so when i showed up i had my favorite spot. I gave him the card that he gave me which explained why I have a free bar tab. he gave me another one and on the back of the card it says "because I say so" and he signed his name to it.
I threw alot of the songs I usually sing out the window, why sing love songs for at this point? I did do "black coffee" by lacy j. dalton. it'll always be a staple song to keep the memory of my friend sadie in my heart. then it was pretty much pearl jam night. i decided to try a few pearl jam songs."elderly woman behind the counter in a small town"(which is one of my fave pearl jam songs), "Thin Air".."Parting Ways"(which is a fave of mine), "Not for you". I then pulled off acouple surprises for Jimmy. I did "feels like rain" which is a great blues song by buddy guy and bonnie raitt(Jim's wife helped on it with me), and then I did a bruce springsteen song from the seeger sessions cd. called "my oklahoma home". I love the song and it was the first time I tried it. it came off pretty well as when the song started Jimmy looked up at the new stage they had put in and gave me a thumbs up. there's parts in the song where I sang "was blown away" and Jimmy started it by yelling "blown away" afterwards(download the song and you'll know what I mean). by the ending verses half the people at the bar had joined Jim in doing that.
during all of this you know who walked in. I told jim she probably would, and she'll recognize my motorcycle outside. I was at the bar when Jim said "k bill, here we go". and he pointed towards the door. she came in and saw me, then came right at me saying "why are you here"? I said "Because i can be, it's a free country and no woman tells me where I can't go". she started sayin things in spanish and i waved her off. Jim then said "I asked him to come in tonight and if you're intent on starting trouble, then you can leave". Julie didn't like that and then Jim said "You want me to call your father, want me to wake him up and tell him what you're doing"? She went and sat somewhere else. when i started singing "parting ways". she stormed out. Alot of people know that pearl jam song so it was getting over with the crowd.
I left at bartime. Jim was worried about me driving back to the dells but I told him I got it. I did talk Jim into selling me beer before I left. He had 9 tall ones of coors original (which is what I like alot) and he laughed and said "how are you gonna get that home if i sell it to you"? I said I'll put em all in my saddle bags. He shook his head, said "drive bike around back, i don't want anyone to see you doing this, if she's still around she may call the cops on you". so I pull around back and I stuff all 9 beers in the saddle bags, in all sorts of places. he told me to be careful. his wife sue had come out and saw me stuffing the beer and started laughing. but she said "if you get stopped, tell the cops you were moonlighting working for us for a few hours". I thanked her for that and said i'd see them next saturday as usual.
on the way home, cops did have a road block set up, checking people. i tensed up, big time but was calm. cop was cool (he complimented my motorcycle, which actually was a good start. he then asked why am i going back to the dells from being in milwaukee. I gave them the story Sue told me to tell. another cop got his cell phone and asked me if I had the number to the place. I gave them the business card and the second cop called. Sue answered and after the cop exlained they had a road block set up for checking for drunk drivers. I could hear Sue say "yes Bill was working in our kitchen tonight after he got off his regular job in the dells. his father is a family friend so we offered bill a job if he was willing to commute". the conversation went for anothe rminute. they never checked the saddle bags (thank god, lol). was handed my licence, business card back and the first cop said, "keep it under the speed limit on the way home, they may have others out there by your way".
Got back to the dells, came home, had acouple more as I downloaded some pearl jam songs(to add to what I already have), then went to bed. I know I probably asked for julie's bullshit by going to milwaukee but she could've come to the dells and did the same shit. she still doesn't "get it". she may never will. I know i pissed her off when i said "Ya know, i went thru this same kind of crazy ass antics with debbie, now you, is this a latino thing or something, you can't get you did something wrong that I'm not gonna forget"? she was gonna say something when jim had stepped in. so I got the last word on her. which s why some women, just aren't worth the blood that pumps their veins.
like I said before, another one bites the dust. I just have to keep going thru them until the one that's truly meant for me comes, or...I just keep on going thru them. at this point it doesn't matter either way. It just continues to validate why i have a line drawn on how much I want to endure and when one hits the line...they feel it, that simple.
I know I was born and that I will die...the in between is mine.
