Something I wrote for someone Someone in emolyrics asked for help in writing a speech that she could say to her team before a soccer game. Well nobody else came to help so I asked if she'd be interested in what I could try and do. She said yes, and I openly admit I stole quite a bit from the speech al pacino did in the movie any given sunday, it fit well with what I wrote as well. This is what i wrote for her whixch she liked. Tell me what you think. Ok team, this year has been different than last year, we've been winning but we know we can win more, we all have what it takes to get this done. do you want our opposing team to come into our house and kick our butt? hel no, I know I don't want it, i know you don't want it, because it doesn't matter, this is OUR HOUSE, and nobody, nobody is gonna come in here, and think they can make our house their house. we tied a team that went to state seven times, so we know we have what it takes, we have what it takes in the feild but we have to look deep inside outrselvews, deep in our hearts and tell ourselves, yes, we have what it takes, we have what it takes to take it to any damn team anywhere in the state on any given day. Sure we've had our share of losses, we've made our mistakes, but today. today, is the day it ends. today is the day where we all go out there, as the unified team that we are, and we show everybody watching that we are what we think we are, and that's the toughest damn team in the state.
I can't do it alone...You and you and you (pointing to various team mates) can't do it alone..we have to all mesh as a team and today is where we bring it all together. because you know, like I know, WE ALL KNOW... we can get the job done out there. we have the talent, we have the skill and we have the tenancity to go out there, and make the goals we need. so today, we won't think about the playoff, we won't think about losing. today and just for today...we will think and we will focus on one thing, and that's going out there..and kicking their ass....This game has got to be about more than winning. You're part of something here... along the way, I want you to cherish it, because when it's gone, it's gone forever...we can heal as a team...or we're gonna crumble. we can go out there and get the crap kicked out of us or we can fo8ight our way back. fight back and give t them what you know they want to give to us....the choice is up to you.You find out life's this game of inches. And so is soccer. Because in either game, life or soccer, the margin for error is so small. I mean... one half a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow too fast, you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches, that's gonna make the biggest difference between winning and losing. I'll tell you this - in any fight, its the guy whose willing to die who's gonna win that inch. And I know if I'm going to have any life anymore, it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch. Because that's what living is.
Now I can't make you do it. You've got to look at the girl next to you, look into her eyes. Now I think you're gonna see a girl who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a girl who will sacrifice himself for this team, because she knows when it comes down to it, you're gonna do the same for her. That's a team, ladies. And either we heal, now, as a team, or we will die, as individuals. That's soccer, guys.we can go down and moan about getting beat, or we can go out there, give them everything we've got, in our hearts and in our souls...and show them that nobody..NOBODY IS GOING TO PUSH US AROUND ANYMORE because we're not gonna take it anymore, no more letting them have the easy goals, no more taking from us what we know we're gonna take from them. today...today we heal as a team, we focus and we're gonna go out there and show them and show the world watching, that we are what we say we are, and that's THE NUMBER ONE SOCCER TEAM IN THE STATE...are you with me....are you with me...are...you....with me!?

update....new job, yay! I did it yesterday, worked my last shift at current job. I came home to find a phone message setting up a job interview, I called back, confirmed it, went to it and was hired on the spot. Assistant kitchen manager at a restaraunt that opens up may 11th. More money, full time with overtime, just what the doctor ordered. The owners of this restaraunt also own two othe rplaces, they open this particular one up just for the summer. so from may until october it'll be perfect. especially if I do decide to move from the dells to milwaukee at the end of summer, this is the perfect gig for me. I did some training which was more of "let's see what I can do" at their other resteraunt yesterday afternoon/evening. same exact type of set up i'll be dealing with when the other place opens in may.I mixed what they wanted with my experience and they liked what i can do. There is no actual kitchen manager so I'll be running the show in the kitchen. I answer to the restaraunt manager on duty or the owners.
I got home and called who is now my former boss and officially quit. he knew i was looking for something else and his wife hates the fact that I did find something better and that now I'll be in a management position, something I think I should've been for awhile. but hey, had they not cut my hours and not given me a raise, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now, so that's now on them. I pretty much a on vacation until the 11th. a vacation I'm gonna enjoy. sleep late, d nothing, just be lazy for the next couple of weeks, lol. yes, you can say "must be nice", it is nice when one can do that and I can. I've been very good with my money so I'm cool doing this.
Julie will be here tonight, we'll go to the german bar for karaoke and I'll probably spend the weekend with her in milwaukee. i might decide to have a nice moment and help out at her mother's restaraunt too. she'll probably need the help if her kimotherapy keeps making her sick.
anyway, that'll be it for now. may write more later. rain. fucking rain ruins riding the motorcycle. ah fuck it, I'll have a beer, why not, I'm on vacation so i'm gonna enjoy it.
