    Time Event
    They Can Come Back
If you're still fuzzy on why America is in such bad shape, here is the explanation, all laid out in black and white:

Early last year, during an intimate chat and chew dinner with some Silicon Valley high-tech barons, President Barack Obama posed a question to Steve Jobs, baron of the Apple empire: "What would it take to make iPhones in the United States?"

Good question! To rebuild our middle class, we need to put more people to work building more stuff in America, rather than shipping all that manufacturing off to China. Instead of answering, however, Jobs dodged the question with a blunt retort: "Those jobs aren't coming back."

And why aren't they coming back? The article goes on to explain why but the important thing is that it doesn't have to be this way. All we have to do is stop allowing our jobs to be turned into overseas slave labor suicide mills. There's no reason we can't have full employment, we just have to demand that our government do it.

I don't usually plug my favorite local conservative crackpot ( because he, like all conservatives, lives in a fantasy fairytale land populated by imaginary Gods where delusional unworkable policies will solve all our problems but even so, just like a stopped clock, he is right twice a day. Sometimes.

And even Jim, as out of touch with reality as he is, clearly sees that this situation is artificial and can be fixed. He suggests tariffs and I don't know if they will work or not but I say we try them. Starting today. And then we should do everything else we can to discourage and forbid the exporting of jobs.

And I understand that full employment and the repair of the economy won't solve all our problems but it would be a huge step in the right direction. The big question is: Will we even do that? Or will this year's election come and go without anything changing just like all the others?
