Second Another One Of Those Days In A Row
Today was another one of those days...but not for me for once. Oh, I'm still broke because I have writer's block again and haven't been able to not write a novel for days and selling greeting cards only covers the necessities and doesn't cover them very well.

So, economically speaking, you could say that this was another one of those days for me. But, if you did that, people would start calling you a sad shallow money obsessed spiritually barren materialist and don't they already say enough mean things about you? I think so, too. So, I know I can count on you to not say it.

In every other way, though, this was an OK day for me. My staff is still a pain in the neck but we won't count them. And that doesn't leave much else except for work. And creativity, but we won't count that, either. So it's back to work. And it went OK. Except for my boss, Putz "Shorty" McWorthless.

Putz had a rough day. Rougher than usual. And he's still reeling from the loss of Elphaba Gusett, who was his Director Of Inhumane Resources. She left him and the greeting cards business for the exciting world of fast food. That leaves him Cruella DeStupid and Lurch. Everyone else thinks he ranks right below child molesting chain saw murderers with poor hygiene habits on the list of most undesirable people.

Poor Putz's support structure is shrinking faster than an Arctic ice shelf. And what he has left, Cruella and Lurch, are...what's the popular expression? Useless as mammary glands on a male bovine? Yeah, that's the one and I don't know how it ever caught on because it seems a little stiff and wordy to me but who am I to argue with popular opinion?

Anyway, the one thing that Putz has left is the slim marginal support of The Chief. But it's waning, now, too. I called him today and actually got him instead of his secretary. The Chief has always had a soft spot for Putz, because, in his words, "Mutant products of unspeakably evil and unholy Nazi genetics experiments are people, too, and besides that, as long as I have him in charge of an outfit, I have a perfect place to send screw ups like you to."

He's still a little sore about World War II, the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, The War Of The Roses and all the other things he thinks are my fault but really aren't. He's starting to get over it, though. He didn't cancel our meeting for Friday and he agreed that Putz was going too far and since Operation Paper Clip has expired, he would look into doing something about it.

He's still making me come to the home office in D.C. He doesn't come to the Quad Cities very often. He says he doesn't have time to waste in one horse towns that don't even show up on obscure military maps. I kind of agree with that. Maybe (Nothings guaranteed yet), on Friday, I'll get Putz transfered to Restroom Attendant, First Class AND get a transfer for myself to New York or L.A. And then I can finally get back to not writing novels and quit boring you with my boring average days. And then I'm going to do something about Suzette.
