It's Friday, You Bastards, Early Edition If I had any imagination...and if you spend any time here at all, you know I don't because if I did, I wouldn't write about all the dull ordinary things that happen to me everyday, I would transform them into interesting things...I would think of cool things like handcuffing a vintage Polaroid camera to the bed. I just thank God that there people out there who can think of things like that:

New Book Looks at the World’s Coolest Hotel Rooms
By PENELOPE GREEN
Published: July 10, 2008
The Hotel Básico in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, is made from materials recycled from public schools, cantinas and ’50s-era oil refineries. It looks a bit like a container ship and has a gutsy, raw appeal. Each room features a vintage Polaroid camera handcuffed to the bed, an amenity that reduces the chocolate-on-the-pillow turn-down service to a quaint archaism. The place is included in the “The World’s Coolest Hotel Rooms” (Collins Design; $29.95), a nifty guidebook compiled by Bill Tikos, an Australian “cool hunter” — ’90s-speak for a trend spotter (see thecoolhunter.net).

Suzette is going to be very pleasantly surprised...and I'm not even going to tell her that it wasn't my idea. And that's just the beginning, because it suddenly occurs to me that if I stay in everyone of the coolest hotel rooms in the world, who knows what other good ideas it might give me.
So that's what I'm going to do. Just as soon as she gets up, I'm going to have Trippi, my Corporate Travel Director, arrange a vacation that includes staying in the coolest hotel rooms in the world, all of them. Even the boring ones. And that's all for now. I have to go find a pair of handcuffs that aren't being used.
