Blaqk Audio [10 Jan 2007|07:30pm]
From Jade's blog:

So I must apologize for my tardiness (again), but I have been bizzybizzy.
Mainly I've been dividing my time between working on my biceps by benchpressing Ferraris filled with supermodels and teaching the homeless to read.
All the rest of my hours have been spent slaving on Blaqk Audio. We're entering the studio in a matter of days to record vocals. We're very excited.
I'll be posting a tracklisting and an album title when it's finalized.
We also have a website, blaqkaudio.com, which will be undergoing a major transformation very soon.
If I have any time I'm going to try to put together a couple of simple t-shirt designs too.
In the meantime I thought I'd post lyrics to one of the songs, just so you know I'm not lying about us finally putting out this album.

Black-Ink Style

So she found him in a sprawl, collapsed and glowing pale

on the ground. His hair spread like a melting angel

like a fire crawling across the floor.

In this moment, in this still inchoate

she loves him.

In this moment, in this light she loves him like no one has.

He held onto elegance easily.

She'd never seen him this way.

She holds on to this picture lit perfectly

and she holds the dust forever.

So he finds her in a sprawl, woven deep in memories revisited and reworked.

The scars get covered up with cherry blossoms that never felt

as soft as this

He held onto elegance easily.

She'd never seen him this way.

She Holds on to this picture lit perfectly

and she holds the dust forever.

Freeze the frame right here he found the perfect pose.

It comes to him naturally.

Freeze the frame right there he found the perfect pose

It came to him naturally.

Surely you must remember him?

Blaqk Audio [06 Dec 2006|10:26pm]
Looks like there'll be some Blaqk Audio stuff coming over the horizon.
From Jade's blog:
"In other news, I've spent the last couple of months on the road working on Blaqk Audio in all my spare moments and we're finally going to record next month.(!) Davey and I are tres excited to finally get in the studio and finish this album. I know we've been talking about it for 3 years but now we finally have time to make it happen. We've even decided on an album title, but, just in case we randomly change our minds and call it something else, I won't say what it is."

new blog [27 Aug 2006|06:14pm]
I've set up a blog for the site at www.singthesorrow.co.uk/blog and eventually, when I get round to rejiggling the site, it will become the site update...device. Thingy. You know.

I do have to say, I really like the header I made for it though. :)

Oh and go check out the new AFI media sharing community.

I've removed all the mp3 files and video files on the site and replaced them with zipped versions, to cut down on bandwidth leeching.

Just Like Heaven [27 Sep 2004|10:07am]
Video and MP3 of AFI's cover of "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure. Both on the download page. Davey does indeed sound strangely like Robert Smith.

Thanks to http://mafafi.20m.com for ripping them both and letting me put them up here.

AFI news [31 Aug 2004|06:42pm]
Maybe I'm getting better at the updating lark?

Well, we'll see I've still not updated the site but here's some AFI news.

  • Nitro will be releasing some kind of AFI compliation in November.
I have no idea what tracks will be on that but I assume it'll be stuff from the albums that got released on Nitro. Also have no idea about any kind of UK date for finding this in shops.

  • AFI should be releasing an album about April or May next year according to my calculations. THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL NEWS.
More of a guess on my part, but seeing as Davey's voice seems to be okay now and they've already been working on some songs, I'm thinking that May is plenty of time to have recorded anything by. I could be wrong of course. :)

In more website related news, it seems that the gig photo site I had over at http://hershadow.evilzz.net/afi/ has disappeared. I have no idea what's going on there as the other site I had hosted by those folks at baseurl disappeared too. Understandably I'm annoyed and after suffering at least 6 months of frankly crap service I'll be taking my site to webspace that I get a far better and more reliable deal on.

Head like a hole [22 Aug 2004|10:43pm]
So after promising to do something and not, I've decided to make it up to whoever visits this site by putting the Head Like a Hole Nine Inch Nails cover up in the downloads section for you to download as an mp3.

Use the navigation thingy above or alternatively click here to go to the right page. Please save the mp3 to your own computer by using right click and then "save as".

Hi! [20 Apr 2004|09:42am]
A request from a friend of mine, please help her out!

Research on the rock audience
I am a student of music at the University of Oslo, and for my thesis I am doing research on moshing, stagediving and crowdsurfing. As personal experiences are very important, I am collecting stories and descriptions from fans, and to better my understanding I need as many different replies as possible. I would be very pleased if you would take a few minutes and fill in this form. Write as much or as little as you want. If you are against moshing, I would also like to hear your views. Questions? Comments? Feel free to send me an email.

Exciting News! [20 Mar 2004|01:11pm]
An online forum has just been added to the site. Well, added in the sense that it's set up. Just ignore the part where there are only links to it from the splash page and the main page. :D

From this week's Kerrang!:
AFI guitarist Jade Puget has said that he and frontman Davey Havok are no longer planning to work on Blaqk Audio, the electronic side-project they started last year. Puget admits that he was only thinking out loud and the pair never considered recording anything. "It was just in a little 10-minute interview in England, so I didn't think it would reach anyone," he says.

Issues with one of my other .tk domains has kind of urged me on to actually pay for a the domain name I actually want and so SingTheSorrow.tk become SingTheSorrow.co.uk . The old address will still work for the most part but this one works now too.

Did you know that singthesorrow.com is registered to AFI themselves? I didn't but I do now. :D

It seems as if Davey and Jade's side project Blaqk Audio finally has a website. Go see it at http://www.blaqkaudio.com

And now for a small piece about it from Rolling Stone:
Singer Dave Havok and guitarist Jade Puget of Southern California punk outfit AFI will use the spare time on their upcoming U.S. tour to draft material for their new, electronic side project Blaqk Audio.
"Everything's electronic, no instruments," Puget says. "We've been experimenting -- everything from industrial to ambient stuff. We're just going to see what happens. Dave and I listen to a lot of electronic music. I like all the EBM [electronic body music] stuff, Covenant, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, [Paul] Oakenfold, DJ Shadow and BT."

The duo has eight songs completed for an album targeted for next year.

AFI themselves head into the studio next summer, and Puget says they started writing material last month for the follow-up to this year's Sing the Sorrow, some of which might reflect his electronic fixation. "I have a lot of stuff already written," he says. "I've been working on a lot of electronic elements that would go into AFI . . . but I don't want it to go too far. AFI -- it's guitar-based and it's instrument-based, but there's a lot of room for that. I love electronic music so much, and that's something I want to explore."

You may be wondering what that last post was all about. Well.

Donate towards my web hosting bill!

That's what it was about. If you donate anything towards the hosting for this site, then you get that thank you message and the happy, warm, fuzzy feeling that you've helped a poor student maintain a site declaring their devotion to their favourite band.
