Be very careful how you treat people when you're on the right side of the table and they're on the wrong side... Because it doesn't take very long for the tables to turn... Power trips are transient, and life, usually, tends to last a little longer than that... And, of course, the good book says 'Do unto others as...'; you know how that one goes...
Was in Bombay last friday to sort out some production related issues with the client and also in the meeting was one Prof. Chakku, my one time faculty at IIT-B and a pedigreed turncoat, representing the vendors responsible for the inordinate delay in the project timeline...! I remember walking into his cabin once, maybe three years ago when I ws still an errant student, to see if he could arrange a client sponsored project for me... He gave me the dirtiest look I'd been given in a long time (And I've been given a fair few, I assure you) that said 'Even if I have one I ain't givin' it to you dude!'...!
Anyway, so here he was, in a sticky situation of his own making, being taken apart by the client for having disrupted the project time line so... And I was waiting in the wings minding my own business, when he commits the cardinal sin of trying to include me in the fracas by saying 'Ask him, he's a design person. Such delays happen. They're nobody's fault. Right?'
B-I-G mistake sucker...! I have never had more pleasure tearing someone apart into little pieces. And then tearing each little piece into still tinier, microscopic pieces. And those, into atom size particles. And on and down, until all that was left of Chakku, metaphorically speaking, was a whole lot of strings (refer Hawkings tentative explanation of the superstring theory) doing a Brownian dance and occupying the general space that was, only a while ago, inhabited by an upstanding member of the IIT faculty...!
Oh Joy! Oh pleasure of pleasures!! The gratification is unmentionable...!! This must surely rank as #1 in my list of the simple pleasures of life...
