Methinks Ian Thorpe is, arguably, the best short-distance freestyle swimmer ever... Anyone who saw the 4x200m freestyle finals last night would probably feel the same... Coming into the last 200 meters, Australia were in second spot, trailing the United States by almost 6 meters, thanks largely to a phenomenal first 200m by Michael Phelps... Thorpe dives in and in five quick strokes he's cut the lead down to half a meter... Methinks he swam a great race and in the end came second by just a tenth of a second... And that's only because Vaanderkay swam out of his skin to keep the Americans a hair's breadth ahead of Thorpe...
A well deserved gold for the US... And, sadly, only a silver for Australia, despite Thorpe's individual brilliance...!

Bhupathi and Paes... Volumes have been written about them already... When they play together, the energy, the adrenalin is palpable... When they do their ritual chest thumping act each time they win a hard fought point, you can feel their passion for the game... To say they play well as a team would be an understatement...
What's more, they look good together too...!
Which is why it's a pity they can't find it in themselves to play together more often...
