IMATS. International Makeup Artists Tradeshow. It's a big deal. If you're a makeup artist or common layman and have never been to it, it's worth seeing. It was better and not as good as last year's, but still overall I was happy.

Stephen drove my car and his brothers to LA Friday morning to pick me up and spend our day doing whatever we wanted. Drama aside, we got to all go to the beach at night and tempted the ocean to suck us into its onshore under currents. Saturday we headed over to Pasadena where the show's held. Went to Guy Louis 16's Fuse FX demonstration and to Stein's "How to put lace pieces on for HD". There were many other classes I'd've like to sit in on and people to meet but there was no time. We went into Stan Winston's gallery/tribute room which Stephen and I went googly-eyed over along to the other side of the museum which had TONS of silicone bodies used in medical shows, films, and for CGI. Even got to see old ventilated mustaches (which were done on chamois cloth- who knew?) and loads of Planet of the Apes pieces (specifically Beneath). Afterwards we watched who won the Fantasy competition - none of which I really cared for but my favorite won 2nd. Finally at 3 we made it over to the tent and its wonderful AC. Met Guy, the men from Smooth-On, David, and Chavant. 4 booths later ONLY and it was already 5! However they all went crazy over my Creature mask - how good it looked for my 1st one mostly. They also convinced me to resculpt it (using Chavant - I was given 5 free blocks), making a mold, and casting a platinum silicone mask. Stephen really wants me to do it too based on how realistic it looks and how long it lasts if platinum.

That night we went to Cantalini's Salerno Beach Italian Restaurant. It's one of our favorites mainly b/c of the spumoni. OMG no one else makes it as good - it's a treat we're beginning to look forward to now whenever we're in LA.

Sunday we went to breakfast with Marie, Jordan, and Adam where we were comped for our meal (the owner knows Marie) and then made various buying stops along the way to Pasadena (got hair dye!). At 1 we began (I paid, Stephen followed) the shopping spree. But we also stopped to watch the FX competition - I told Stephen the werewolf that looked like Daichi just b/c it looked so cool costume wise. Crissy won 2nd. It was cool. Stan ordered her a flocking gun (rental from Naimie's for $100 - they sell for 1.3K). I find it a bit odd that 4 Japanese students from who-knows-what-school-as-they-didn't-mention-it were in the FX portion and all whiteys were in the Fashion. Hrm.

Anyways, bought brushes, got more free Chavant, free prosaide, Reel FX colors (cheaper than Illustrator), Illustrators for Sarah, pore texture tools, an RCMA palette, free Alcone puffs, MUFE Flash palette, OIC blood (free bottle), and free Fuse FX silicone colors from Guy (who I'm striking a deal with in the future). Probably spent 600. I guesstimate - I'll look at my receipts when I open my suitcase and hope I don't find blood and prosaide everywhere... In the end, I'm very happy to have met so many people I didn't originally plan to meet and possibly find my own little niche in my future lab/garage that Stephen has promised me. Also - now that I have so many cool things, I'm ready to get rid of a lot of my kit (Flash and RCMA palettes really make no need for anything else) - so look out for MKDOSwap!

As for Stephen, I'm missing him terribly. I told him to kidnap me back to AZ. The light's at the end of the tunnel for school thankfully - we're looking forward to moving forward together. I wouldn't be where I am I think without his and my parents encouragement and love. It was chate! I can't wait for the future!
