i spent afternoons and whatever time i had when i was in primary school, doing splits in the air, walking on my hand, practicing the haolian face. and of course, re-running whatever tape recordings of competitions i can get my hands on.
if only they had youtube some 20 years ago.
this girlie...
created quite a scandal back then. nobody quite knows her real age. she was under 16 when she scored a perfect 10 on the uneven bars. one of my fav events...cos i can swing like a monkey and fly in the air :)

and then there's the legendary nadia comaneci. love her to bits. but pretty sad story though.
nadia is sooo cute!! soo pretty!! so technically perfect!!! no faults can even be detected. and back then no gymnast ever scored a 10! so the score board reflected 1.00 cos they didn't have enough digits. hahah. no gymnast gets a perfect score these days. there's just something about her!! i can talk about her forever. haha.

and lastly...i think i modelled myself after her! haha. after watching her, i wasn't afraid to jump on the beam anymore. i jump sibeh sibeh high. and thus, making the balance beam my best event!!!

however, yang bo ended her career really badly. with a series of injuries and bad dismounts. she lost her confidence in the end :(
imagine if mum had let me go to the beijing sports uni!! i would have been breathing the same air as her! i would be in the same training grounds as her!! ahhhh! who gets offered a spot in beijing sports uni????
