07.12 am :: Wanderlust: Tondol White Beach, Anda, Pangasinan
|
Tondol White Beach, Anda, Pangasinan 17 April 2008
The beach of Tondol is beautifully unique. A calm stretch of cool, shallow waters bordered by white sand fine as ash. You can wade thru it for about a quarter of a kilometer off shore and the water would still only be reaching your knees. You can do away with renting a hut and choose to stay on a sandbar instead (there are quite a few of these lovelies, depending on the tides).
Pristine is an understatement. Unspoilt by "resorts", Tondol has been officially declared the pilot area for Community-based Ecotourism by its local government. Which is usually a load of political bullshit, yes, but from what we've seen, the people really seemed to care about balancing profit and preservation.
