The school had a 2 hr delay again. The fog is CRAZY and there's now black ice on the roads. They're slicker than they have been for awhile.
Something that's been on my mind since last night is the way sooo many (usually men) are obsessed with sex and children! We watched Dateline last night where they set up stings to catch internet sexual predators. These guys would chat online (and sometimes talk on the phone) with agents pretending to be 13, 14, 15 year old KIDS. We saw some of what these men said and it was extremely sexual and gross when you think about who they thought they were talking to! The agents would say they were 13, and the predators would say, "cool, I like 'em young. I can teach you everything you need to know about F---ING!" Then the guys would actually drive like 4 hours to get to this kid's house & go in and be just like sorta hanging out, waiting for "something" to happen! When the police arrested them, and they were interviewed they'd say, "no, I wasn't there to have sex, I just like meeting new people. I like meeting people of all ages and just talking to them." (YEAH RIGHT!) I got sooo mad watching that show!! I'd love to be one of the agents who set them up...but I'd also like to meet them face to face & give them a little "free surgery" right on the spot! One man (predator) was even the assistant DA
in Texas! When the police tried to go to his house & arrest him, he shot himself. I guess he knew how bad his life was gonna get when they caught him.
I just have a problem with understanding these men's mentality! HOW in the world could you want to do "stuff" with a child (13-17 is definitely a child!) Don't these guys have to be mentally ill? They say they know it's wrong, but they can't help themself! (I could help them! Where's my knife?) One man was a pharmacy tech! He had been an associate minister of a baptist church while he was going to college to become a pharmacist! He had to leave the church because they caught him having an affair with a woman in the congregation. He said he'd never done drugs, or drank, but the girls were his one vice he couldn't overcome. Man, he had a promising career and just flushed it!
Then, closer to home, a guy from Kokomo (IN) was arrested in the same kind of sting. He drove to Carmel to meet a girl who said she was 13! And even closer than that - a guy we know personally, (he worked at the feed store in town) was 23 and got arrested for meeting a 13 year old girl! Weird thing is, we would have never thought that about him! He wasn't creepy at all. (I usually get a "sense" around really bad people, but he didn't have that effect on me. Makes me worry that my senses are being dulled by......I dunno, something.)
This last week a FEMALE teacher was arrested for meeting her 17-yr-old (boy) student in the forestry to perform oral sex on him. She told him she'd give him a better grade if he agreed. WTH? Even women are this desperate? She's only 32, and now her whole teaching career is sewage! I mean, I obviously understand how a woman can be attracted to a man and vice-versa, and they slip into an affair when they shouldn't. That is at least understandable. But I just don't get it about the children!!!!!!

Well, okay, enough of that. I guess I get a bit obsessive too as I get one thing on my mind and can't get over it.
The good news is that nothing TOO bad is going on with me or family. My oldest daughter is going off her effexor as it stopped helping her. (Read about that in Lynda's journal too, I wonder if it's just the nature of the drug?) She's taken it right at a year, but she said she doesn't like being "hooked" on a drug. If she went 28 hours between doses (instead of 24) she'd begin having withdrawal symptoms. Her dr. told her to cut the dose by 37 mg a week. Up until she was ready to go off completely she did okay, but we can't get her off of the 37mg. Yesterday the dr. said to open a capsule, cut the amount inside in half, and put the half back into the capsule and do that for another week. Man, that is tedious! Did you know there are approximately 120 little crystal beads in one capsule?! He said it was pretty critical to make it the same amount each day, so last night I spent a half-hour counting out 60 crystals to put back into a capsule for 7 capsules. ugh! I just wish we could find SOMETHING that would help her once and for all! Nothing she's been on has really made a difference (for the better that is). The therapist she's seeing now has dealt with anxiety and OCD all her life, and she's giving Amy some advice about handling things without medicines. She says that some people just simply don't respond to medication. All I know is Wellbutrin saved my life more than once. I'm thinking I may have to go back in myself and see what to do. I think if it would just warm up & be sunny and nice I'd feel better. But part of me knows that's not all it will take.

Well, if you've struggled through this long, drawn-out rambling of thoughts I thank ya, and I hope you're having a good day!

My prayers are with Lynda & her family. "When it rains it pours" that phrase comes to mind when I think of all the trouble she's had lately.

I've been doing little of nothing. Can't seem to get really awake due to all this snow! I shovelled a path for the youngest to walk in after school, but now it's melting, so maybe I won't have to worry about the shovelling anymore. I didn't realize how Badly out of shape I am! ugh!

I've also just discovered my oldest daughter has a blurty journal, so I'm a little hesitant to write anything. (?) I don't know her username, nor does she know mine, but she mentioned something that's happened in one of these communities lately, and I had to play like I didn't know what she was talking about. I think it's best if we just not know about each other's journal. I guess I never write anything too bad, but I don't know, it just seems weird. ha I may have to delete some of my bio info so if she does stumble across it she won't make the connection. (Does this sound paranoid?)

She's been missing some school lately due to her anxiety flare ups again. Hopefully she can pull herself out of it. Her therapist seems to be encouraged by her "progress", but I think maybe my daughter has her fooled so they don't have to discuss anything "too real" during their sessions. I don't see the progress.

Well, the youngest is home from school, so I'll go chat with her about her day. Hope everyone is doing well!

Still cold as.....???? (I was gonna say hell, but that wouldn't make sense!) It was zero this morning, with a wind chill of -20! The wind is what makes it so bad. We live on a bit of a hill with a flat valley full of fields to the west of us, and the wind just zips across that valley & into our house! Our house was built in 1889, so it's strong, but not air tight by any means! I told Eric the only good thing about it is our house is full of that "clean fresh air" scent. LOL

Yesterday I heard about a friend who was devastated by one foolish mistake. She believed a man she knew through the internet when he said "I need some money, but I'll pay you back." It is amazing to me how someone (like her) can be so caring and generous to someone she's never met in person. And how someone (like him) can take a kind woman's LIFE SAVINGS and never bat an eye! The man said he was living in a city near her & had just moved there from the Netherlands. He was a "doctor" with a small son. He went to Nigeria for an art exhibit, (to show his artwork --- like Nigeria has popular art exhibits?) But when he was ready to fly home he couldn't access his money (for whatever lame excuse he gave her) and that if she would send him $12,000 he & his son could fly home. She could (and tried to) pick him up at the airport & take him to his bank and he would pay her back. She waited 3 1/2 hrs at the airport for him & he never showed. Turns out he was probably a Nigerian contacting her from there the whole time & when she sent his money to Nigeria he just cashed it & went on his way. I don't understand how people can be SOOO trusting of a stranger. I mean yeah it's nice to communicate with others across the world & see what their life is like....but to send them every dime you have????? I just don't get it. She was soo lonely & just knew this would "be the one". She was suffering with depression before this; I just hope this won't push her over the edge.

My daughter's boyfriend said his motto for the internet is: "A man is a scammer - A woman is a man - and a child is an FBI agent". HAHA that's a bit drastic, but better than being TOO trusting perhaps.

Got this in an email & found it amusing - how the media can distort the truth to suit their opinions is NOT always a joke, however!

Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a Chicago Park when a crazed

Rottweiler suddenly attacks one of the boys. Thinking quickly, the

other boy takes his hockey stick, shoves it under the dog's collar,

twists it and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.

A reporter is standing by, sees the incident, and rushes over to

interview the boy. "Young Cub Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he

starts

writing in his notebook.

"But I'm not a Cubs fan," the little boy replies.

"Sorry, but since we're in Chicago , I just assumed you were," says the

reporter and starts writing again. "Young Sox Fan Rescues Friend From

Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook.

"But I'm not a Sox fan either," the little boy replies.

"Sorry, but since we're in Chicago , I just assumed you were," says the

reporter and starts writing again. "Young Bears Fan Rescues Friend From

Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook.

"I'm not a Bears fan either," says the boy.

"Oh . I assumed everyone in Chicago was either for the Cubs, Sox or

Bears. What team do you root for?" the reporter asked.

"I'm a Colts Fan," the boy replies.

The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes: "Little

Bastard From Indiana Kills Beloved Family Pet".

!!!GO ~ COLTS!!!

I'm not an actual football fan, but I'm happy that our Colts are going to the Superbowl! It's the first
time in a long time that I'll actually watch a whole game! I must admit I do like Peyton Manning. :)

(I decided to post this, mostly cause I think the little squirrel is just so darn cute!)
