Hello there,
I was just wondered if anyone has had a chance to read "Making the Cut: The 30-Day Diet and Fitness Plan for the Strongest, Sexiest You" by Jillian Michaels... from what i've read most people have a love/hate relationship with it because its targeted to the people who want to lose those "last 10-20 vanity lbs" and has an "extreme" plan but still i'm just too tempted to buy it... any thoughts???

Spa Water [24 May 2008|08:02pm]
[ mood | hydrated ]

I gotta say, it's almost impossible for me to drink enough water, and I've been trying pretty much anything I can to entice myself to drink more of it.

My new thing: homemade spa water.

Today I filled up a big, fancy glass pitcher with ice cold water, spirals cut from about half an orange, and slices from about half a lemon, and I let it chill in the fridge for about an hour. When I had a glass, it was so refreshing, I ended up having three glasses instead of one.

Generally, you can fill up the pitcher a few times in a day without adding any more fruit. Also, you can try any number of combinations. I find that any mix of lemon, lime, orange, and/or cucumber is pretty tasty. Some people even include fresh mint or rosemary, but I havne't tried for that yet.

If you want, you can even add a cup or two of cold green or white tea to the pitcher for an extra antioxidant boost!

No Fudge Pudge??? [24 May 2008|11:03pm]
[ mood | full ]

Okay, so the other day, I was in the supermarket, and a brightly colored box of some impossible sounding product called "No Pudge Fudge" caught my eye. The package promised delicious fudgy, fat free brownies at about 100 calories each.

Obviously this was too interesting of a proposition to pass up, and let's face...life is not meant to be lived without the occassional treat.

Here's my review!

First off, they're ridiculously easy to make. Just add 2/3 of a cup of non fat vanilla yogurt; mix; pour in a pan, and bake for 35 minutes at the temperature listed on the box. The box even has a single serving recipe and a number of substitutions that you can make if you don't have yogurt.

So I followed the directions, and 35 mintues later, I had brownies.

I plopped 2 small brownies in the bottom of a coffee mug, topped them with a tablespoon or so of the fat free vanilla yogurt, topped that with a heap of fresh strawberries and a dollop of fat free Cool Whip and I had....what I have to say was a delicious dessert for about 250 or so calories, 0 fat, and a serving of fruit to boot. So good! If made as directed, the brownies are very, very fudgy, but there are alternate directions on the box for those who prefer cakier brownies. My husband had a serving too, and he said that he wouldn't know they were healthy if he hadn't seen the box.

Of course, I now have 2/3 of a tray of brownies left, which is something of an issue. Fortunately, the brownies apparently freeze well, so I can save them for future treats instead of gobbling them all now!
