Lately, work has been super busy, so I've been relying on things that are healthy, tasty, and require as little preparation as possible. I've been doing pretty decently, and I thought I would share a few of my fave things and what's been working for me:
-Stonyfield Farms Oikos (non fat organic Greek style yogurt) - I know I've posted about this stuff before, but I totally <3 it. Super high protein, fat free, and so creamy you'd never think it could be healthy!
-Carrot sticks- I gotta say I love these because I can throw a few in a tupperware or baggie and snack on 'em at work with zero prep. Plus, I love that they're crunchy and slightly sweet.
-My new water bottle- like so many people, I've recently become concerned about the dangers of using plastic due to its tendency to leach into food and beverages, so I got a 40 oz Klean Kanteen, which is stainless steel, not plastic. It keeps me hydrated and healthy, so it's a win-win.
-Low fat string cheese- I love these because they're high in protein and calcium, and theis is another great snack to eat on the go with no prep.
-Hard boiled eggs- These require a bit more prep than the above snacks, but all the B vitamins are worth it!
-Pumpkin seeds- AKA pepitas. These things are addictive! They're super high in magnesium, iron, zinc, and other vitamins and minerals that people tend to be deficient in. These are also a great alternative for people who have nut allergies. The one caveat is that they're kind of high in calories, so it's important to measure out a proper serving rather than just eating out of the bag.
Also, I've been keeping up with my commitment to get to the gym 2x a week, which is great! I haven't been walking at work quite as often as I'd like, but I typically get to do it at least twice a week, which means I'm getting two 45 minute gym workouts and two 30 minute walks a week, for a total of 4 cardio workouts, which is great. Here's hoping I can keep it up....
