| Challenge! |

It's time for another challenge! This one is right in time for the holidays, and hopefully it will help all the participants to deal with one of the less pleasant side effects of the holidays: weight gain.
There are all sorts of unhealthy traps associated with the holidays. Festivities tend to be full of delicious but unhealthy food. Friends and family send treats as a token of good cheer. Holiday shoppers are tempted by unhealthy food court fare at the mall. As if all this wasn't enough, the stress of the holidays and the lack of daylight often cause people to crave starchy comfort foods!
Thin and Healthy Challenge to the resuce!
This week's challenge is twofold: 1. Get 5+ servings of fruits and veggies a day for 5/7 days 2. Get 30+ minutes of activity on 3+ days a week.
Just like the previous challenge, any activity counts, and the activity can be split up or all at once. Whatever works for you!
If you want to know what constitutes a serving size, check this out!
The rationale behind this challenge is simple. The holidays are about indulgence. There's no way getting around that. But, if you're eating enough fruits and veggies, which are low in calories and high in fiber, you're more likely to be full, which will cause you to have less room for goodies, and we all know it's about portion control. Plus, it will help you to make better choices over all. The exercise part is two fold. If you're exercising, you'll be burning off what you eat, and your stress levels will be reduced. Reducing stress is good because it reduces cravings for comfort foods, and it reduces cortisol levels, which lead to weight gain.
The duration for this challenge is one week...
However, we were thinking two week challenges might be a good idea too because participants would probably be more likely to see significant results and because a two week challenge might help participants to create new habits. If the challenge is for two weeks, the challenge will be to get 5+ servings on 10/14 days and to get 30+ minutes of exercise on at least 6 days.
What do you guys think of this being a two week challenge? Let us know in the comments! Whichever option gets the most votes will prevail, and the result will be posted on the main page.
So, who's in????? In one...or two weeks, we'll post a wrap up to see how everyone did!
