Been doing the Clean Program (thanks Gwyneth Paltrow) & it's really forcing me to re-evaluate my eating habits. The premise- eat an elimination diet style for 3 weeks to rid your body of toxins. The usually suspects are the ones that are eliminated: gluten, dairy & eggs, nightshades, Pork, beef, veal, shellfish, soybean products, peanuts, processed oils (butter, canola oils, etc), alcohol, soda, and refined sugar & natural sugars that spike blood sugar (agave nectar/honey).
Obviously there are tons of things one can eat, but it forces you to be mindful & get creative. I've seriously been eating the best, most nutritious, lunches the past week or so. Salmon w/Quinoa & roasted mushrooms, butternut squash soup w/cauliflower florets, organic chicken w/brown rice & roasted veggies, etc.
The book is a great read, check it out: Clean: The Revolutionary Program To Restore the Body’s Natural Ability to Heal Itself, by Dr. Alejandro Junger.
