Well, the weight increase was less than I thought it would be after the way I ate over the weekend. I have been having a much better week so far. The big test will come on the weekend when I am home at night and food is just there for the taking. Come on willpower.

I am very angry at myself. I have done nothing but eat this weekend. I have stuffed myself full. Beyond full. I am now determined to pu a stop to this stupidity on my part. I am also embarrassed that I come to you my friends and support here and tell you week after week that I will start to be good. As of 8 am this morning. I will no longer be cheating like I have been. I am resigned to a weight gain this week, but that is going to start changing. I have ate so much I feel crappy. I remember feeling this way in the past, and I don't want to feel this way any more.
I hope you can all forgive me for all my failed promises and continue to support me in my quest to do better. Thank you.........

I read on friday that going as hard as possible on an exercise bike for only 3 minute significantly reduces one's risk for diabetes by making the cells uptake insulin more efficiently. I would imagine that this applies to all cardiovascular activity.
The bike seems the most exciting, since it is the piece of equipment that I am least likely to use.
Ill see if I can find the article to post. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Ugh. I had a nasty cold, which was followed by something else that was like a cold on steroids, so I've been kind of out of commission for the last few weeks. No good. It's so annoying because I was on such a roll with the workouts too.
Anyhow, as usual, I'm getting back on the wagon because I'm finally feeling up to working out again. For whatever it's worth, I've been doing some stretches, and I've been doing like five or ten minute ab workouts, but I've gotta say, I'm really looking forward to picking up with the workouts again.
I have tomorrow off (woo hooo!), so I think I'm gonna run tomorrow while Jilly naps. Sounds like a plan to me!
How's everyone doing?

From a friend over on LJ.......
Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital , Bombay Hospital , Saifee Hospital , Tata Memorial etc.. Presently, he is heading the Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad, a suburb of M'umbai, India (W).
The following message given by him, I feel makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know:
The only portals of germ entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.
While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):
1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).
2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap)..
3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.
4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*
5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.
6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

Time to kick my ass in gear. I knew it was going to be another gain this week. I simply haven't tried to lose weight. Once you fall off the bandwagon it's hard to get back on. Especially with all the holidays coming now. So the news is not good this week. ( Da Numbers )

Dove Evolution
This is something everyone should check out. As much as I know that everything is photoshopped, I think that most people underestimate just how altered everything really is. What's scary is that these heavily altered, completely unrealistic images considerably shape the common person's idea and perception of what beauty is and sets unrealistic standards for pretty much everyone.

Well, it was time to get back on the scale. It has been a month since I last weighed in, and I knew there was going to be a weight gain. It was just a matter of how bad was that weight gain going to be.
I think I lucked out fairly well in that department. ( Da Numbers )
