I saw the show, The 101 Dalmations Musical last night.
It was a cute little show. Nothing spectacular over the hill, but it was a lot of fun to watch and listen too.
I first wanted to see it out of curiousity of how they were going to pull it off. I thought maybe they were going to use kids to play the dogs, but then I saw an ad in the paper that said they were going to have really live dogs in the show. Wow, gutsy. Then I saw a small article in the People magazine talking about the dogs. It said they had a small part in each of the two acts of the show. So I figured they must not be having the dogs in much of the story.
So imagine my surprise when they started the show and a guy came out in a suit decorated like a dalmation. It ended up being that they had adults and kids playing the dogs, and for the people in the show they had people walking on stilts. Some of them looked more comfortable on the stilts than others did.
It was all done with bright colors and simple designs.
I had assumed that this was a Disney show, but after watching it, I don't think it was. Disney was not mentioned in the title. That was the first clue. Next were some fairly liberal and not so subtle side notes in the story. Aka, there was a NannyCook and a NannyButler that cared deeply for each other, but for certain reasons they could not share a room, "But that's another story".
The guys playing the Badden Brothers, Horace and Jasper, were a riot. Goofy badguy sidekicks are great roles.
Rachel York, who played Cruella had a great voice.
Minneapolis to my understanding is the first stop on the national tour. That was a little obvious at the souvenier counter. They didn't even have programs. They had one "tour" tshirt and two others. A hat, a coffee mug, a magnet, and a few items I think were things from Rachel York, or somebody in the cast.
My thoughts...
If the show happens to come through your town and you have the free time and some money, it would be a fun night out.

Me thinks that sounds like me. :p Thanks Mr. Owl...

You See Halloween as Scary

You are an outgoing person who's a bit of a showoff. It's likely that you dress up for Halloween every year.

You like to think of yourself as naughty. But compared to most people, you're actually quite mild.

Your inner child is open minded, playful, and adventurous.

You fear people taking advantage for you. You are always worried about protecting your own interests.

You're prone to be quite emotional and over dramatic. Deep down, you enjoy being scared out of your mind... even if you don't admit it.

You are a traditionalist with most aspects of your life. You like your Halloween costume to be basic, well made, and conventional enough to wear another year.
