September 9th:
Woke up and showered. Mary and I packed up our things and loaded up our cars. We said our goodbyes. Mary told me that her son Daniel was sad that he didn't get to meet me the other day. I felt so guilty. I was so tempted to pull off the highway at one of the Milton turn offs and stop and say hi to him, but I was driving all the way down to Fort Myers today and I didn't know what kind of timing I would make. Anyway, Mary and I said our goodbyes, and she headed for home and I headed for Fort Myers and my friend Angie. Have I mentioned my dislike of driving near water? Well, the bridge leaving Pensacola is under major repair and the East bound lane has a couple of sections where you drive on metal grates instead of concrete. Yikes, it feels just like your car slides on the metal. I know it was all in my head, but I was glad to be off that bridge. There was a little rain off and on during my drive, but that is per usual. lol... I thought about stopping in Gainseville for gas and or some food, but I changed my mind. There was obviously a football game getting ready to happen. Traffic on the North bound side was backed up on to the highway with people trying to get into town. Also on the North bound side I saw a police escorted caravan of cars and buses. So there must have been a politician of some signifigance in the area. So I waited to stop and get some gas. I was starting to see lots of billboards for Disney World. It started to make me excited for getting there. :) As I got closer to Fort Myers I talked with Angie on the phone and between her and her dad I got directions to find my way into town. They live in North Fort Myers. So I got directions to find the store where Angie works and met her there. I called on the phone when I got to the store and I met her inside. She was like, You look so different, aka skinny. LOL..... We did some grocery shopping and then headed out to her place. I was glad to have her to follow. They are on the outskirts of town. I was a little worried about meeting Angie's dad. While talking with her on the phone I have heard him in the background and he can sound awfully gruff. However, both her mom and dad were very friendly. They even planned supper for me. They made steaks. It was very nice of them. While we were sitting there chatting waiting for supper a pretty good storm brewed up. Wow, the thunder sounded like it was right on top of us. I was a little worried about getting out of there. They live on a dirt road, and their driveway has some pretty good dips in it. Angie was the good daughter and totally embarrassed by her parents. Her dad brought out some old photo albums and Angie kept hinting that I didn't need to see them. I played the good guest and happily looked through them. They have a cabin down in the Everglades. No embarrassing pictures of Angie though. lol..... The storm finally let up and I decided to call it a night. I wanted to get to the hotel and see if I could get a room for the night. I had only booked the next night and thought I would do the Wally's World hotel for the first night. I kind of changed my mind and also wanted to do some laundry while I was in town and so I decided to get another night. I found the hotel easy enough even though their sign was missing. Nice... The days in part wasn't there, but their little sun emblem was. When I asked if I could a room tonight she kind of hesitated, and I thought to myself, Your parking lot looks deserted, but I was able to get a room. I got settled into the room and got my laundry ready to go, and of course they didn't sell soap. So I headed out to find Wally's World and get some soap, and some munchies. I had to get a full bottle of laundry soap. Doesn't anybody do little loads? :p So it was back to the hotel and laundry and television for the night.

One of our nurses is double shifting tonight and must have decided she didn't want to stay all night so she is going to go home at 3 am. So the charge nurse comes up to me and tells me this and "asks" me to take my break earlier because this will leave the ramaining nurses with 6 patients apiece. OH NO!!!!!!!!!! (that was my reaction) Did I mention that said charge nurse is Tweedle Dumb from Dumb and Dumber fame that I have talked about in the past? UGH... So I have decided I will just not take a break and put down for the overtime. lol....... This station is such a joke. 6 patients is the average on most other units, but my nurses are way to use to getting away with only taking care of 4 patients at night. LAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prediction Time:
I am sure you have all heard by now the predictions that gas prices will be down to $2.00 by Thanksgiving. Well, here in Stewartville, Mn. it is already down to $2.04. However that is not my prediction.
Yes, gas may come down to $2.00, BUT I am predicting that as soon as the election is over and if the Republicans prevail, the prices will start climbing almost immediately. I am going on the record and saying that the big oil companies are lowering gas prices to try and keep the Republicans in control in Washington DC, and thus securing their continuing record profits.
It's the only answer. No sooner had BP announced that they had to shut down their Alaskan pipeline, which should have sent prices soaring, did the prices actually start to fall.
Coincidence that prices are dropping like a rock the closer the election gets? I don't think so.
