A Bit About Scoring. So, the percentages the test gives are total points out of 1000 for each element that you scored. All but three questions allowed you to score points in every element, since I felt that most of the responses could straddle more than one element. I also did my best to make each of the responses desirable in some way.
Also, every natal chart has every element represented, even if there's not a familiar planet in it. We are composites of all the elements. In astrology, the "big three" are your rising sign, your moon sign, and your sun sign, but the other planets can tip the balance too, depending on their relation to each other. But it's generally true that your "big three" signs will be the most obvious or pronounced in your personality.
Anyway, here's a breakout of the elements and their respective signs.
Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius. Fire is the spark of life, of personality. Fire is sometimes fighting for what you believe in, but it can also signify what you desire, what you're willing to take of yourself and put into the world.
Earth: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo. Sensual, concrete, loving labor not for itself, but for what it can produce, for the achievements it brings. Earth is not the stuff of dreams or ideas, but it is the physical manifestation of reality.
Air: Libra, Aquarius, Gemini. Now, this is the realm of ideas, thoughts, and knowledge, but not merely such remote concepts. This is also the element that specializes in the communication of these ideas to the rest of the world, of sociability and of human networks.
Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces. Without life-giving water of feelings and emotions, we would be hollow creatures living in an empty world, unable to do anything because of absolute apathy. Feelings aren't merely "nice to have," but they are what drive us on in the world, and it is only through them can we experience genuine meaning.
Update: So far, scoring looks somewhat reasonable. * Scores are averaging in the thirty-percentile range across all elements * No one element seems to be coming up all the time for everbody, which is something of a relief. * All elements but fire have now broken the 60% range. As I feel that my Fire scoring responses are the least well-written, perhaps others feel this too. * Many unexpected results have happened to people who've expected to see their Sun sign's element represented. In some cases that I've actually spoken to the taker, there have been good explanations as to why the other elements are better represented than the Sun sign. Conversely, some still have me scratching my head. Perhaps a random sampling the future and request to get birthdates/places may be in order for a quick chart check. * If you care to observe of contribute comments to an online discussion of the test, visit my super-secret blog on Xanga. A few close friends have taken the test and have gotten results that surprised all of us. Come by and listen in, if you care to.
Final Note and Thank You. Another card by Charlie. This one is The Empress, represented by Paul's mother, Jessica.
Thanks for taking the time to take this test. I'll be updating it fairly often for the next little while, since it's brand new and surely needs tweaks. So come back in a while and take it again, if you like. I'll continue to post updates at the "front" of the test with any changes I make, and as the stats come in, I'll be updating this page with other trends. Someday, somehow, I'd be interested in finding out if your scores were at all similar to the elemental breakout of your natal chart, but until I can figure that out, enjoy! |
