Tonight I am making my first entry from my new computer. I bought a HP laptop, and tonight my nephew was kind enough to help me get it hooked up to the router so I am wireless. :)

It seems like there should be a lot more to say than that, but.....

I have been off work sick for the last three nights. I think I have some kind of stomach virus or something.
It's nice to be able to stay caught up with my journals and emails when I am not at work.

Well, that seems kind of anti climatic. :p

Politics Continued........... [08 Nov 2008|07:49am]
[ mood | annoyed ]

Minnesota's Rep. Michelle Bachmann is now apparently trying to take some credit for Sen. Obama winning the Presidential election. She apparently has been saying things along the line of, It's a great thing that "WE" have done for the country by electing Obama.
EXCUSE ME??? Michelle, aren't you the one that accused Sen. Obama of having UnAmerican sentiments????? And called for the investigation of Congress for UnAmerican feelings??? I find it really hard to believe that Michelle Bachmann voted for Sen. Obama. Ugh........

And of course what would an entry about politics be without a mention of Joe the Plumber..............

Yes, Joe the Plumber, the man who doesn't think "Spreading the Wealth" is a good thing.
Well, I heard a report last night that our little Joe has actually be on WELFARE, TWICE!!!!! Plus his tax lean still hasn't been reconciled.

So apparently what's good for the goose, ISN'T good for the gander?????
What a frickin' jerk.

Tasmanian Devil Could Die Out in 20 Years

Thanks to a terrible epidemic of an infectious facial cancer, the remaining population of endangered Tasmanian devils has been cut in half in just 10 years -- and the species could go extinct in 20 more. The disease, first reported in 1996, is spread through face-to-face contact, a key part of devil interaction; devils are more prone to the infectious cancer because of their extremely low levels of genetic diversity and a chromosomal mutation known only in carnivorous mammals.

Luckily, Australian zoologist Jeremy Austin is piloting a national project to help save the Tasmanian devil, which will establish a conservation program for the animal and work to suppress the cancer. In case a vaccine isn't available before wild Tasmanian devils die out, scientists have suggested a breeding program using the 500-plus disease-free devils in Australian zoos and wildlife parks. The animals themselves are coping with the disease by breeding earlier than usual, before the disease strikes -- which is usually at the age of two.

[ mood | shocked ]

I was really shocked when I made the mistake of talking to one of my sister in laws about politics the other day before the election.
She told me she couldn't vote for Obama because he's a Muslim.
I laughed and said, No he's not. People complain that Obama is a Muslim, but then they turn around and complain that he said in a Christian church for 20 years listening to a crazy minister.
She told me that at one point during the campaign he said that he was going to campaign in all 57 states. And you know there are 57 Muslim states.
EXCUSE ME??? According to snopes.com there might be 52 Muslim states, or there might be 60 Muslim states. It all kind of depends on how you count them.
I said, So that's kind of like McCain calling an audience, His fellow prisoners? Come on, can't people make a slip of the tongue.
I asked her, So can any Muslim be president of the US? And her answer is what really floored me....
She said, No, because we are a Christian nation.
I said, No we're not.
She said, Yes we are. We were founded on Christian principles.
I was like, No we weren't. Have you read what some of our founding fathers said about religion?
From there I kind of let the conversation die.

Do people really feel that way?
I know, STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If that is the case then there are some people in Congress that need to be kicked out. I know there are a few Jewish folks serving in Congress. Heck, McCain's right hand man, Joe Lieberman is Jewish. How about Mormons? Do they qualify as "Christian enough" to serve?

Seriously, I think this is a great example of why we were founded with a seperation of Church and State. Now if we could just follow that rule it would be great.

Well, I is back to work now. Darn... :p
Forgive me if I don't go back and read all the entries I missed. If something major is happening and I have missed it, please let me know. :)

Well, I had an almost perfect night Tuesday night. Not counting local races, all my candidates won except one, and that one is going to be recounted because it was so close. Minnesota has an automatic recount when a race is with in a certain % of votes. Our Senate race ended with just over 400 votes seperating the top two candidates.

I don't know how many of you saw the bumper stickers or heard the saying, Don't Blame Me, I Didn't Vote For Him, during the Bush administration? Well, I was one of those people that you couldn't blame. That said, I guess I can be blamed if things go bad during the next administration, because my guy WON. :p
I really just hope all this talk of cooperation and working together for the greater good materializes. Forgive me if I don't necessarily hold my breath though.

Did anybody watch the consession speech by McCain and the acceptance speech by Obama? They were two really good speeches.

Today was the first day in about a week that I finally slept well. Needless to say with the lack of good sleep I have been putting up with that dizziness/unbalanced feelings that I have been seeing the doctor for. Fingers crossed that I start sleeping okay again.

Vote for Obama, Go To Hell
By Kyle | October 28, 2008 - 10:31am
In her latest column, Janet Porter warns all those Christians who intend to vote for Barack Obama that they are willfully disobeying God and will be punished accordingly:

To all those who name the name of Christ who plan to willfully disobey Him by voting for Obama, take warning. Not only is our nation in grave danger, according to the Word of God, so are you ... [T]his election is not about race. It's not about the economy. It's about obeying God.

...

Be forewarned: If you willfully disobey God on life and marriage because of race or false hope for the economy, you will usher in the kind of change that brought the Soviet Union to collapse.

But the warning goes far beyond that. To those who think that God's grace gives them license to willfully disobey Him without consequences – think again:

Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" (Matthew 7:21-23)

That deals with your eternity.

That's right - if you vote for Obama, you are going straight to hell.

In Porter's view, you have a relatively simple choice: either vote for McCain or stop calling yourself a Christian:

To those who call themselves by the name of Christ who ignore what God says about life and marriage, who and are clinging to a fantasy of economic gain, think again ... Then obey Him in the voting booth and out of it. If not, do us all a favor and quit calling yourself a Christian.

I got this from my friend, Joan.......

Hi friends - here is a little info on investments in this time
of unrest.

If you had purchased $1000.00 of shares in Delta Airlines

one year ago you will have $49.00 today.

If you had purchased $1000.00 of shares in AIG one year ago

you will have $33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1000.00 of shares in Lehman Brothers

one year ago you will have $.00 today.

But if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of Beer one year

ago, you drank all the beer then turned in the Aluminum for

recycling refund you will have received $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to

drink heavily and recycle. I call it my 401-Keg plan.

A recent study found the average American walks about 900

miles a year. Another study found Americans drink on

average 22 gallons of alcohol a year, That means on average

Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Makes you proud to be an American.

for Sunday, October 5:

You need to do something about your attitude today, or you might end up in trouble -- authority figures are extra-grumpy! If you just smile and nod, you should be able to get past it all without trouble.

That was fairly accurate, seeing as I went to the Senate debate and the cops were oh so friendly. :p
Okay, they weren't that bad. :p

Here are the dates by which time you need to be for your state. Although you may want to double check for your state, because unless things have changed here in Minnesota, you use to be able to register at the polls, but this list doesn't say that.

Vacation Time............. [20 Sep 2008|01:18am]
Entry No. 1: Prologue and Day 1........

Prologue:
Saturday September 6, I almost called my vacation buddy Joe to tell him I was going to have to cancel on him. For the past week or so my mom has been dealing with bad bloody noses. Today she had to go into the ER twice for it. I am holding off hoping that things will be okay and I can go on my vacation. Pisses myself off for worrying about my vacation when my mom is sick. What a jerk I can be. :(
Sunday September 7, things seem to be staying stable with my mom, so I continue with vacation plans.

Day 1 September 8th
I got checked in at the Minneapolis airport. I was given an aisle seat. Darn... Although in one of the emergency exit aisles so at least there was a little more leg room. As we took off the pilot told us the weather in Vegas was 101 F. Yippy... The flight was fairly boring. As we started to approach Las Vegas, the pilot came on and said there as a storm over Vegas and they wanted us to circle for an hour. If that was the case the pilot said we didn't have enough fuel and we would have to land some place before landing in Las Vegas. After a few minutes he came back on and said we go the go ahead to land in Vegas. The temperature was now 81 F. Must have been quite the storm that went through. We landed and I found my friend Joe. We headed off to the car rental joint. Boy, did they see a sucker coming. I rented through Orbitz and it was $88. After being an idiot and getting talked into extras, gas and insurance, the bill was more like $220. UGH... Sorry about that joe. We were going to split cost of car and room. Instead, I paid for the car and Joe covered the room. So we headed over to the strip and drove up to our hotel, the Stratosphere. As far as Vegas is concerned not terribly fancy, but it was a nice place. :)
We decided to head out and walk down the strip. We ended up going about 1/2 way down it to Caesar's Palace. That is where I am seeing Cher tomorrow night and Joe is seeing Phantom across the street at the Venetian. We made our way back up the Strip and we found a little Denny's tucked into one block, so we stopped in for a late supper. Then it was back to the hotel for a night's sleep.
