The Sun in Aries
The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry fever.
--Dylan Thomas (1914-1953)
You are a pioneer, a true hearty, courageous soul with headstrong tendencies to get your way, whether it be a career or the princess of your dreams. Watch out. Your sheer determination to overcome all obstacles frequently leads to rushing in over your head. Although you think with your head, not your heart, rarely do you learn anything the easy way. And if your need to achieve something is thwarted, you could become physically sick.
At your best, you are extremely passionate, assertive, forthright, bold. At your worst, you are selfish, quick-tempered, foolhardy and arrogant. Your spirit leads you, and often you are not patient. But you love freedom, and you are a natural leader. Because you are at the beginning of the zodiac, you seem to shout, "Look at me! I exist!" People tend to follow you, or they butt heads with your stubbornness. You make a natural executive, and are good at starting projects. You enjoy giving orders and are great at delegating. You are also gifted at selling, and have lots of ideas you want to put into effect. Dynamic is the word to describe you. You aren't necessarily interested in having power over others, but you pour energy into whatever you do. However, your derring-do could prove hollow if you are feeling inadequate on the subconscious level. You must strive to balance your bravado with reflection and self-knowledge.
Your natural energy makes you adept at any kind of sports. You go at lightning speed and tire everyone out. You spill your spirit onto others; you need to learn the lesson of conserving, and focusing your attention, before expressing it. If you suppress your energy, headaches are common. You are a survivor, and many Aries have pioneered new frontiers, including space. Luckily, your great ambition and drive gives you that extra push to start any venture; sometimes, unfortunately, a bad temper or argument could cause you to lose your way. Luckily, your anger never lasts for long.
Though Aries men are typically bold, brash, and impatient--to the point of recklessness--Aries women need a relationship of equality. No chauvinism allowed. She's apt to have a wonderful career, set her own goals--and achieve them. She can compete with any man, and is passionate about her lover. But don't anger her--she'll turn her back to you.
A typical man, Aries wants to prove himself, and may take unnecessary chances or risks. Life is never boring for this whim-seeker, whose motto seems to be: carpe diem. Once smitten, an Aries man may cross the deepest ocean for his sweetheart, fight the fiercest dragon, or stalk her on the Internet. Either way, he is chasing after his dream. He will pursue his beloved relentlessly, and treat her like a princess when she acquiesces.
A fire sign, Aries explodes into being and is often attracted to other fire signs, such as Sagittarius or Leo. A more harmonious relationship could result with an air sign, such as Gemini, Libra or Aquarius. Sometimes an earth sign helps ground all that Aries energy. Still, romance is all passion and fire--often rash and impulsive. It is not uncommon for an Arian to get restless and have many love partners; however, the challenge to the lover of an Aries is to pursue active change within a relationship--as active as the Ram will take you--and beyond. Also, an Aries works better without strict rules; simple guidelines will do. You may want to do some extra planning for your partner's future, as Aries are typically not good with money, spending whatever they get instead of saving it up for a rainy day.
The true Aries represents the power of the individual. The challenge in wooing this dynamo is to cultivate persistence naturally, over time, so the true hero inside can show its endurance. Take time, don't let the Aries way boss you around or deter you. They meet, initiate, spark, enthuse, confront, and stir things up. That doesn't mean they don't want you around! They like creating, and recreating, in a very direct and certainly not boring way. Aries is the eternal adolescent, always searching for an identity, and finding it in new experiences. At a party, you can always tell the Aries as he or she butts her way into anything that looks exciting, or breaks the rules nonchalantly. She could do the Nike commercial with gusto: Just do it!
Aries is born in the spring time, and with that comes new life, energy, heat, and vitality for flowers and vegetation. The Arian spirit works well with sunlight, water and earth. He is Dylan Thomas' "force that through the green fuse drives the flower." He is something to be reckoned with, and always someone to have on your side.
Sun in the Fifth House
The Sun shines brightly here, since it is the ruler of the Fifth House and of its own sign, Leo. A person's self-expression and creativity are enhanced, and typically there is a flair for artistic expression and anything involving the theater, entertainment or the arts, such as music or film. This is the house of creativity, pleasure, children, love affairs, risk-taking, and the father. A strong Sun placement here will affect a person's reaction to procreation, pleasure, and the arts. He or she will have a great love of life, thanks to the Leonine influence of this house, and is typically competitive and sometimes egotistical. They love children, but often have none of their own--unless the house cusp is in Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces. Parents will tend to push their children into the limelight, sometimes too much; they need to learn to let go and watch their children take a natural path. Nonetheless, they are usually very happy people, intense lovers, and find any occasion to proclaim: "Party Time!" They have many friends, pursue romance actively, and always seek to have a good time. They also have a fondness for animals, having several pets of their own, and sometimes can get caught up in gambling or other speculative investments. The Sun is well-placed here, and stimulates the power of self-expression so that a person generally finds the ability to do anything, and puts forth great energy. This is also the house of hidden karma, with people here acting and creating from an inner life-urge, rather than to boast or for self-glorification--unless the Sun receives negative energy from other planets, which may bring bad luck with children. There may also be some underlying need for the thrill of danger, which may be satisfied through risky sports.
Sun trine Jupiter
Besides giving you good health and physical strength, this aspect confers innate intuitive powers which can be used in many fields, especially for counseling, psychology, religion, and art. You have tremendous creative potential, but may need some kind of stimulus to get motivated and get going on a project. Still, you are very enthusiastic, and your reputation is first rate--you are a natural leader who acts decisively and with much courage, ambition and willpower. This aspect brings good fortune, success and luck--you can achieve your goals. It can also bring financial prosperity. You benefit through men.
Sun trine Uranus
You are probably a "different" type of thinker, yet are still a leader who can tap into creative powers. You like to think of yourself as progressive or original, and others are attracted to your ability to make things happen through your own ingenuity. Because your perception of reality is so broad, you are strongly intuitive with a grasp of the profound and a deep appreciation for mystic insights or cosmic consciousness. You draw people to you--they want to know you because you are so different, yet you never get too emotionally involved.
Sun conjunct Mercury
Because Mercury is never more than 28 degrees from the Sun, this aspect is the only one that can form between these two planets. Generally, the Sun here blended with Mercury's mental acuity gives you greater intellectual energy and power. However, if the two planets are too close together--say around 8 degrees or closer--you may be guilty of ego-centrism, selfishness, and of having so much mental energy that can lead to burnout if you're not careful. Such a placement can give you a poor perspective on issues, with Mercury so close to the Sun. Still, this combination gives strong business aptitude, and makes people ambitious, intelligent, with a great desire to observe and learn about people and their environment. Focus your will with your intellect and you can show people you are not someone who just talks--you can act on your ideas and make them happen.
Because Mercury and the Sun can never be so far apart as to be in opposition, this conjunction is said to give greater harmony between the soul (Mercury) and the spirit (Sun).
